Don't call me gay:
From the demo and from videos, it seems like the level design is pretty strong. The controls are NOT.
Just from my play:
-on the first little ledge in the game, as I run off the right I try to jump. For some reason the game thinks that I am not on the ledge so I do an air dash and it sucks all my momentum dry and looks stupid.
-if you EVER let go of right/left on the stick ALL MOMENTUM is instantly lost. It is very jarring and looks strange. Try spin dashing, jumping, and letting go off the stick. You will come to a dead halt instantly. Same goes for your standard jumping. It feels very strange and looks even worse, but I suppose it might allow for more accurate platforming than the older Sonic games.
-On 3 dfifferent occasions in the demo, I got stuck standing sideways on a wall. Once just from running at it too slow and experimenting, the prior times I was launched into a scooped wall from some other platform and just stuck to it sideways like Spiderman. Sonic will just stay there. You can even spindash from this position without sliding down.
-It is really annoying that they un-ball you when you launch off of an edge. This requires you to use the homing attack if they jam an enemy in someplace (which they do twice in the demo level). With the level of screen zoom and the time it takes for the game to 'lock on' for you, it's easy to accidentally air dash the enemy even if you aren't dumb enough to fly straight into him.
-Screen is kinda too zoomed in.
I don't know why they gave it R34L HD FIZZIX and then made them behave less naturally than games from 1991.
It's still fun to play though, I think I will buy it.
