PD should've scrapped the 800+ standard cars. 200 premium cars should've been enough.
But options are always nice.

The standard cars look below average in photomode but fine in actual gameplay.

I know. Already played the game. The graphics are amazing. Forza 3 looks like a NES game in comparison.
But 200 premium cars should've been enough. The standard cars really stand out.

Of course 200 cars are enough, but you must understand that some people are fickle. They will bitch about anything and everything if given the chance.
Not having porsche is a much bigger deal than having half the "real" cars as Forza 3.

That AAA screenshot is like the worst shot that someone could post in GT5 graphical defense.

lol pre-emptive damage control - you gotta feel for 'em tho, this game was supposed to be their last, great hope.

edge loves driving games, so if GT5 gets anything less than a 8 from them, that's when you know things are bad.

I have an anti-porsche bias too but I would still like to drive their cars in any serious driving sim.  It's just ridiculous that one of the oldest and most important sports car manufacturers didn't get in, you have to admit that.

I did, it didn't have any upscaled PS2 cars which is why it looked good.

Valid point, but I personally have zero interest in driving a Porsche /RUF car in Gran Turismo.

Just going by that pic, it looks like compression from a video capture.  Or could be a funky motion blur frame.

PD should've scrapped the 800+ standard cars. 200 premium cars should've been enough.
But options are always nice.

Yeah, I don't care about the actual gameplay in GT, so I would've scrapped all the standard cars and the half of the tracks that look boring and empty.  Plus I would've dropped 1080p and only had 720p 4x AA mode to get rid of jaggies.  And I'd have dropped the car count from 16 to 8 to keep 60fps locked with no tearing.  I'd also get rid of Go-Karts because they look stupid.

I should replace Kaz!

Although if I were a pathetic sfag, I'd be posting replay screens as well.  This is the Sfag's last stand.  The last "bobobo wait for..." game.  The last "360 sales will grind to a halt!" game.  A lot of fanboy tears and pride is on the line here and I expect some entertaining damage control in the next few weeks.

Can someone post some funny bits from gaf here? I dont think I can wade through the thread there.

This is in regards to no damage before hitting a specific level:

Quote
It is a great decision IMO.

It is pure RPG - you can't fight Cactuar in Corel Desert without having appropriate Materia and XP Lv. It is pure & beautiful old-school and 100% based on GT philosophy-principles.

I know that many will find it flawed, wrong and such, but hey - it is simple:

You want full physics, full damage and so on? No problem. You just need to progress into the game.

Besides, it will make a greatest handbrake an all potential flood of damage-only videos I was really worried to see all over the internet. If damage was enabled from the start, all you would see on YouTube with "GT5" tag would be "Enzo Crahfest", "F40 wrecked", "Murcielago Crashing ZOMG" and so on. This design-decision will just make it rare - and that is good.

Even from business perspective - I can see that all principals (manufacturers) that gives licenses to use cars to PD will praise such decision in long terms, thus allowing them to use more cars and everything in the future.

Above all things that are exectued in unique and perfect manner of GT heritage, this one stands out the most in my book.

good stuff

to be fair, for the 5% of gamers that actually care about GT for the gameplay, the 800 ps2 cars are great because gameplay-wise they handle like the PS3 cars and not like GT4.  And since nobody is going to play in the 3rd person view with those, in first person when racing you won't even be able to tell they aren't premium cars.

The PS2 cars are embarrassing

they should have just called it GT Anthology and included car models from all the games to make it at least fit

Would've been cool if they kept the tracks from at least the PS2 games and left them as is but with GT5's physics model.  GT4 had a boatload of tracks.

Some French site has broken review embargo

http://www.jeuxvideo.com/articles/0001/00013884-gran-turismo-5-test.htm

Quote
#
Graphismes 15/20

#
Scénario

-
#
