I have no dog in this hunt but nuking the random gaming thread isn't going to do anything. All you will have is 50,000 threads that cover the front page about stupid shit that die immediately. But if people consider that good talk then so be it.

There are things I like discuss that don't need a new thread to discuss. There are stupid things I like to post that don't need the validation of a new thread. There is never anything stopping anybody from creating a new thread on either side. That random game thread thing was a personal thing I wanted to solve a situation specific to my posting style. But there was never any hard rule like at GAF that certain things should go in there. Create threads to your heart is content. Who is stopping anybody from doing that?

But that's just my two cents. If most people want it to go then remove it I say. Or maybe just rename it to shit talking thread or the pussy posse or the bullshit thread (or anything less official than random gaming thread) if somebody feels that a name is stopping them from creating new threads.

I read everything here of interest. That is why you don't see me post in threads like the movie one, anime, tv, and manage to avoid random drunk ones. Mainly cause I'd rather not post then troll.

I don't know why, but EB is the first thing I read with my first sip of coffee in the morning. Gaf has something to do with it since I learned about this place while waiting to be activated there.

People who post at GAF post there because of all the posters and all the bullshit. As much as they bitch about it, that's why they are there. For instance when you see people get temp banned over at GAF. Then come over here and bitch about it. And then immediately disappear once their temp ban is over. I did the same a few times. That's just the way it is.

At a certain point most of us either retire from GAF because we are truly fed up with it or get permabanned, or reduce our post count in general. And I think that's kinda healthy. Perhaps I'm just a crabby old asshole though.

I don't post much (some most consider that a good thing!) because I care more about reading than participating.

I think the board will be gone within three years but it doesn't mean I hate it.  I came in initially because there was a lot of movement but with people who I recognized from the earlier days of GAF (2002-2006).  I always thought this place was like the GAF of old, for better or worse, when manchildren and asspies were ridiculed rather than coddled.  I will admit that the board has become so slow that I've started posting at GAF again.

You won't get many new people because the key source of new members here is GAF.  If they're good enough, they usually find their way on here or at least are aware of this place.  So at this point, you're not going to get much.  With things going on in people's lives, it is inevitable that some are going to stop posting, become more erratic in their posting consistency, etc.  Whether that is a good thing or bad thing I guess is up to each person.  I think the only reason why the board can be so negative is that, again comparing to GAF, negativity with explanation is vastly superior to mindless positivity for the sake of community togetherness.  Which is why most GAF megathreads are obnoxious reads.  An internet message board should not exist solely for your opinions to be coddled and validated.  This isn't elementary school where you are called a special snowflake and you get an award just for participating.

I liked the community when I registered and if I'm really bored, then I just read old threads or read post histories of people I like from that time period.  Some of the shit there still cracks me up three years later.  There are some great things still being made today ( Borecast/Cruncheons ) on the board.
