Anyone checked out the fakefactory cinematic mod? http://www.cinematicmod.com/cm_10.php

It's pretty good for free content and blows away Valve's half-assed efforts to revamp HL2 graphics.

The most noticeable modification is that all the women are now big boobed and sluttily dressed. Gordon Freeman is a happy man.

Here are some 1080p pics that show off the other changes. I dig the new shadowing and lighting. It adds mood to the game without drastically altering the original look of the game.

New Combine and NPCs are also pretty nice although I wish there were more variations of the Combine, even if the original game didn't have them.

New Judith's face is terrible but I think Alyx is pretty good although she isn't even remotely black now. Supposedly the new Alyx model was based on Adriana Lima.

I far prefer the new NPC squadmates. The original ones had no personality and all looked the same.

You can still use the mod without any of the new "HD" models. Actually, they are turned off by default.

Not sure but the alternate dynamic soundtrack is pretty good.

I didn't even notice it at first but iron sights actually works pretty welll. However, I don't like most of the other gameplay tweaks. They added instant headshot kills but then try to balance it with aimbot accuracy and much more splash damage from explosions which make some of the levels almost impossible to beat. You can change most of it back though by deleting some cfg files.

Yeah. I thought it was all graphical tweaks until I kept dying in "Water Hazard" way more than before because I kept getting destroyed by the missles. Also, certain sections seemed to have many more enemies than before and the new tweaks made it so that you almost have to be perfect to make it through. It might be fun for a challenge freak but I think the old difficulty level was a bit more balanced.

I'm not sure what you find so offensive aside from the models. Like I said before, you don't have to use them.

Most of the changes genuinely improve the look of the game, especially original HL2, while still preserving the original artistic intent.

The first and last screenshots look okay, but some of the others are pretty debatable. Looking at this screenshot, I don't see how it improves the look of the game or preserves the original intent. Am I playing Far Cry all of sudden, what's with all the extra foliage? And did the county recently come by and repave the road?

Looking at some more comparisons, they really AREN'T preserving the original artistic intent. At all.

This mod is just all over the place. Some of the stuff is "Wow, that looks really great!" and other stuff is "Man, what the heck were they thinking?".

The thing about Half-Life 2 is that it's still a really good looking game even years after its release. The main reason for that is that it has a clean, consistent, believable style throughout and it really doesn't seem like that the guy, or guys, that made this mod realize that, or realize why.

I'm not saying that there aren't ways to make HL2 look better [there are], but this doesn't seem like it.
