Calvin and Hobbes is just a comic about the celebration of childhood innocence and imagination. Calvin gives his daughter Hobbes, which brings him "back to life" again. In the C&H comics, Calvin and Susie have a constant rivalry: they have snowball fights, Calvin does "gross" things to gross her out, just like any other boy. So when they're sitting at the table, I like to think they're re-experiencing their childhoods vicariously through their daughter, who doesn't get it.
The second one is basically Calvin at death's door, embarking on one final adventure.
They're just fan works of Calvin and Hobbes comics, but I guess it doesn't pull your heartstrings if you didn't read it.
