well, used to be, wrestling had a lot of entertaining storylines and all that. Sure it was fake and ridiculous, but it was always entertaining and fun to watch and see the stars rise and fall and sacrifice their bodies for low pay and cheap thrills and the laughter/tears of children.

you're probably too young, but back in the late 90's wrestling was THE thing to watch, week after week. And mid-90's and 80's wrestling was no slouch either.

I distinctly remember telling my Dad "Wrestling is real" and him laughing. This was after watching the Blair Witch so I was 14 or so. So at an age where believing that shit is embarrassing. I eventually fell back to a "It takes physical exertion and they can get hurt" argument near the end.

But that is true. It's a live performance and people can get hurt. Nobody gives a shit that it's scripted. "Fake" is the wrong word to use here, unless you're referring to the storylines...and only a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow would believe any of it is real. That was obvious to me even as a kid...there's no way that the crazier stuff wouldn't cause the cops to get involved, legal action to be taken, etc. Plus they'd do angles like Shawn Michaels having a heart condition...and he'd just so happen to conveniently pass out right when RAW was going off the air. Never mind the total cartoon characters like The Undertaker, Papa Shango, Kane, etc.

You do have to give it to the late-90s era. When the nWo came around, they got idiots saying "I know it's fake, but THOSE GUYS ARE FOR REAL!"

Wrong. WCW had better wrestling and a lot of more interesting belt divisions. Cruiser weight and luchador matches in WCW were amazing. ALso, NWO in its prime was amazing. Goldberg's winning streak, although a gimmick, was an entertaining one with extreme highs. Diamond Dallas Page, THE RAVEN, Eddie Guerro, the four horsemen, the LATINO WORLD ORDER, LA PARKA the Wolf Pack, THE GIANT BEING PUSHED OFF A STADIUM AND COMING BACK LATER THAT NIGHT. WCW was amazing and anyone with taste watched both Raw and Nitro - literally at the same time. WCW sucked near the end, but the ride was so fucking worth it.

I also liked WCW PPV's more than WWF.

Me, my dad, and my brother would always flip back and forth between Raw and Nitro. We preferred WCW before they started going downhill.

Also, World Tour and Revenge were the best wrestling games developed by AKI before the WWF takeover happened and they made No Mercy.
