My favorite part of this whole story is that he's buying satellites… like, how does B.o.B. think satellites stay above the earth? If he just knows there's less gravitational pull up there, how does he explain their circular orbit, which reads like a wave when the earth is mapped onto a flat plane.

When a tank knocked down his block wall with a boom, waking him from a sound sleep, Jesus Llovera scrambled out of bed and grabbed his jeans and a phone to dial 911.

He made it to the hallway just as his bedroom windows shattered. At his door, members of a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office SWAT team in full riot gear told him to get on the floor.

He was handcuffed and taken outside, where action-movie actor Steven Seagal waited, clad in camouflage and sunglasses and hoisting a rifle.

"I looked up and saw his face," Llovera said. "It was very strange."

The SWAT team was at Llovera's Laveen home the morning of March 10, 2011, to search it.

Deputies suspected that Llovera, who had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of being present at a cockfight, still had roosters and chickens on his property, a violation of his probation. They also suspected he was raising them to fight, a Class 5 felony.

But the Sheriff's Office was also participating in the creation of a reality show, "Steven Seagal: Lawman," a cable show that followed Seagal's exploits as a deputized officer. Four cameras from the production company filmed the warrant execution and arrest. Arpaio's office had alerted the media. Reporters and television cameras lined the southwest Phoenix neighborhood's street.

The Sheriff's Office insists in court documents that the use of a tank, a bomb robot and 40 deputies was part of its normal course of duties.

At the time of his arrest, Llovera said, Seagal walked him off his property to a van but did not speak to him. Seagal went off to do media interviews. Show producers asked Llovera to sign a release allowing them to use footage of his arrest. Llovera said deputies removed his handcuffs twice as producers asked him to sign. He refused.

"They said, 'It will be good for you, so everyone can see your animals,' " Llovera said. "I said I didn't want to."

Never one to go quietly, Steven Seagal is fighting back against recent allegations that he had a hand in killing the family dog of an Arizona man while filming a segment for his Steven Seagal: Lawman reality show. As you may recall, during a totally routine raid on the home of cockfighting suspect Jesus Llovera, Seagal captained a SWAT tank to lead dozens of officers in riot gear as they first set off explosives as a distraction, then knocked down Llovera’s fence and a surrounding wall, blew out the windows in his house, swarmed his family living room, and killed the approximately 100 or so chickens they found on the property.

Caught in the fray, according to Llovera, was his family's 11-month-old puppy, which Llovera claims was shot by police. After being presented with a notice outlining those events, as well as Llovera’s intention to file a lawsuit for the damages, and demand for a written apology from Seagal to his children for the death of their puppy, both Seagal and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio—the star of his own mental TV show, one where he's a maverick detective who's the spitting image of James Garner—have responded that the claim is “without merit,” with Seagal adding that he is “outraged.”

Still, Arpaio and Seagal haven’t actually disputed anything related to the excessiveness of the raid or the resulting property damage—only the dog-slaughter charge, to which Arpaio responded, “If my deputies—or posse man Seagal for that matter—had done something so awful like shooting a family dog, then where are the photos to prove it?” Of course, Llovera’s attorney pointed out that the letter does not explicitly accuse Seagal of personally shooting his dog, only that he wants an apology for orchestrating the events that led to his dog being killed in the ensuing destruction, all so Seagal’s reality TV show would have a properly exciting Arizona episode. But yeah, if Llovera really wanted that apology, why didn’t he think to take a photo of his murdered, bleeding puppy? That’s Arpaio’s posse man he’s slandering!

My "favorite" part of that story other than the fact that they launched a small military operation against a suspected cockfighter who had contacted the police in the first place was how the police slaughtered the hundreds of chickens on the farm and dumped them in a mass grave. Because a few of the roosters had injuries that could have indicated human promoted fighting (rather than merely between themselves because they're roosters) and the guy had a past involvement in cockfighting.

I want to say it may have been because prosecutors wanted to hit him with an animal mistreatment charge for every single one of the chickens they had killed, but the whole STEVEN SEAGAL thing blew up the whole story and eventually their case.

Though I still think there's another reason for the whole affair: SEA-GAL...SEA-GULL...follow the money.
