I dislike that because it implies that you can't find joy in activities 'non-geeks' take part in. Like you can't watch shounen anime and play high school football or whatever, thats not always the case. Sure, it might be departing from the norm but it doesnt mean you're rebelling against something or rejecting something (although that definitely is the intention of some). Of course there is a difference between simply 'enjoying' something and making it a 'lifestyle choice' as EviLore so put it. You watch a kids show, fine, whatever... I watch adventure time with my little sister sometimes when it's on the television and i enjoy it too. But when you're running up in Toys R Us, buying plushies, calling yourself a brony, forming fan clubs... might need to check yourself.

Yup, not to mention I've met plenty of people I would consider 'non-geeks' being into some obscure and nerdy stuff. And of course the other way is true, obviously I come across as a geek upon first meeting me, then people are all of a sudden shocked when I tell them I DJ and frequently go to clubs/raves.
