Aonuma is the best thing that happened to Zelda – Shiggy has great ideas and I credit him for some of my favorite games but when it comes to Zelda these days, he gets in Aonuma's way more often than not and changes the game, usually for the worse.

I mean, right now he's just going through skyward sword to address structure and pacing and mechanical issues, a similar role he had on the Galaxy games and NSMBWii. Just recently he decided it would be better to put newer items in the early part of the game, which sounds great.

Controls are perfectly fine in Zelda, combat is...its just less than dynamic. I'd really like something like Arkham Asylum's combat, but I don't know how they'd implement that in Zelda.

On a serious note, I can KINDA understand this guy's position. It's not like when we were kids and there were TONS of kid oriented gaming. Today's gaming is overwhelmingly adult oriented. But I don't think the alternative fix is forcing your kid to play old ass games, let them if they want, introduce them, but don't force them to play nes games only. Kids love Mario, so I don't see the harm in introducing Mario. The discrepancy is when you let them play Mario and ONLY Mario.
