there are a lot of great posters on gaf, but most posters aren't as popular(?) as the narcissists who activity deter any discussion from an opposing view.   you end up with posters who're overwhelmingly positive in Nintendo/Sony threads, but overwhelmingly negative in Sony/Nintendo threads; same with PC/Consoles, 'dudebro'/jrpgs, whatever.

I don't remember who said it, but "Nintendo fans don't like video games, only  Nintendo." is perfect.  You can swap out Nintendo for any number of things.  GAF is great when it's people who like video games talking about video games.  and luckily some of the newer mods like stump and y2kev are cool dudes.

it's also a good place for news, but yes, megathreads ruin the flow of new information.  title edits have helped.

I own a Wii, 360, PS3, PSP, PC - every current gen system bar the DS/3DS(Do phones count? I have an Android). At some stage I will get a 3DS to play monster hunter.

I gravitate towards good games not platforms, especially jrpgs. The DS is the only hardware that's really put me off getting it which is a shame as I see a few jrpgs and adventure games i'd love.

wow - that's pretty awesome The Aibo itself was super cheap and, well, it's rarely used. lol. Might see how the son reacts to it.

XMB - the hilarious thing was waiting for around 2 minutes so you could actually DO anything with the damned thing. The even funnier thing was the 24x DVD burner. Turned out it was 24x speed.... oh and then they downgraded it to 12x speed and "promised to update via a firmware update" oh... and the 24x based on CD speed. Looool. so ... 2x DVD... that became 1x DVD ? oops.

Machine was a -good- firmware away from being pretty good. However, when they finally fixed all the firmware... Kutaragi decided that only PSX2.0 could handle it so he went on record to tell people if they wanted the functions promised 12 months ago at PSX1 launch then they'd better shell out another $1000 to get the new model.
