Nintendo fans USED to be militaristic but we just ran out of ammo. This mirrored Nintendo, which turned away from traditionally competing with the others with Wii and DS. I also think constantly being a gen behind hardware wise has humbled Nintendo fanboys somewhat, but it's a two edged sword because now all that we can do is constantly hope, which can sometimes be equally annoying.

The Nintendo fanboys are annoying because they tend to be delusional but I find them tolerable mainly because it comes through that in their heart of hearts they feel slightly embarrassed about rooting for the disney of videogames. The Wii turned into a fanboy's worst nightmare at a certain point. 

Sony fans are the worst because they combine a sense of entitlement with a large segment of the games as art crowd, mixed with that strong dose of advocacy because they still can't believe that everybody doesn't own a playstation or think anything Sony tosses out is wonderful.


I don't have a strong characterization of MS fanboys but I'm sure someone more up on things would be able to characterize it. Early on it had a lot to do with overly bragging about how MS started the gen but I don't follow the fanboys enough now to know what it migrated over to in the following years. Anecdotally I tend to think there are far less of them on GAF than the other two for whatever reason.

Before I was banned the PC brigade was the fastest rising annoying clique going over there. But that's been a few years. I don't follow GAF enough anymore to know if that is still the case.

I wouldn't say that makes them actively annoying since those are more character traits. Put another way, that stuff wouldn't present itself unless you went into a thread or forum specifically for Nintendo fans. Whereas the annoying optimism I speak of forces them into threads on next gen in general, similar to Sony fanboys in threads about AAA games.

MS fanboys tend to get lost in the crowd because for all intents and purposes, the 360 has been the default system for gamers and devs this gen, so they don't really have much to complain about, especially since the Kinect started moving systems faster than the Wii. Aside from that, MS has few active first party IPs so fanboys have to rely on third parties for ammo, which is sort of a show of weakness especially as devs became more PS3 and PC friendly as the gen went on.

It's hard for me to really decide since the evidence is mostly just a ton of devs closing this gen and retail console games becoming a AAA club while many indies defect to phone games, but I do think we need to be cautious about the kind of systems that are built going forward.

I'm optimistic digital services and liberal indie programs can solve that problem though, so holding power back just for that reason doesn't fly with me. I think a better argument would be keeping the price down, which is good but you don't want to spend a whole gen with underpowered hardware just cause you wanted to hit some price point at the start.

In SMT, you recruit demons. You fuse them to create NEW demons. Each demon has a specific type, in the main SMT games it tends to be tied to alignment (lawful, neutral, chaotic). Depending on what alignment path you're on, it's best to recruit demons of that alignment. In SMT side games such as Persona games, each demon's type is dependent on  other factors such as element. More than that, SMT has always had a elemental weakness oriented gameplay.

As for battle systems, well, SMT changes battle system from game to game. Poke'mon has had the same battle system since i picked up Blue in 1998.

You always have to do weird shit to make Final Fantasy a challenge. Like speed runs and low level runs. I've played Pokemon multiplayer only with folk similar to me that didnt care to go beyond Attack, Attack, Attack.
