The problem with Andrex is that he takes these biases and preferences to an almost religious level, in regards to Google.
As for my Google fanaticism, what it really comes down to is I enjoy being in their ecosystem. For years and years, I only "liked" Google because it was basically just a search engine, plus Blogger, plus YouTube. Trying to be "Google only" was worthless.
The turning point is when Google upgraded Docs with better Office import and real time editing, and I made the switch 100% from Office. Google came out with basically everything: a mobile OS, a browser, a laptop OS, app store, file syncing, calendar, social network, etc., and it just made more sense to me to just use what they were making over the competition since it all worked so well together.
I made that choice because I agree with 99% of Google's moves. They're very open source friendly, and they do stuff like bid on wireless spectrums to keep it open and bring 1 Gbps fiber internet and TV to the US, make self-driving cars and cool as hell tech like Glass. Their stuff gets me hyped, really.
I tend not to go after people who don't like Google, or like Apple, (as much, anymore) because it's the same deal with videogame fanboyism -- not worth it, for the most part. Sometimes I have some fun, but if you see me arguing over stuff like this, it probably looks like I'm taking it much more seriously than I really am. My philosophy is to just use what makes you happy. I personally find the Mac OS UI obnoxious but I understand why people opt-into it.
