It's a main series SMT.

The fans will buy it because we're a loyal, rabid bunch. It also has more Persona-isms *shudder* such as animu-esque character designs, which will help the Persona fan entry even less painless.

Basically, if word of mouth goes around and 3ds owners - who aren't rabid SMT fans - buy SMT4, the jrpg audience for the system will have a nice, solid foundation. It also has a nice foundation due to the new KH game anyhow.

AWESOME-O, I am not a fan of handhelds with small screens but the 3DS XL is pretty nice.. been playing a lot of it now that all my consoles are boxed up.

Don't quite care for Persona that much. 3 was a good time but 4 is one of the few games that I felt embarrassed playing even by myself. An absolutely obnoxious game. I prefer DDS and Nocturne by miles.

No way is the 4 the same. The gameplay and structure may be identical but the premises are completely different. The plot in 4 has tons of awful shit and the music is horrendous.

4 is darker than 3. Darkness is not defined by superficial things, it's defined by characters and themes. The game is campy, but the actual content (such as hating yourself because you're not what people consider to be traditionally male by being - at the very least, bisexual) is far more relatable and by extension, darker.

The only reason I prefer P3 over 4 is because it was fresh at the time of release. 4 doing the same formula feels been there, done that despite everything else being objectively better, with the exception of maybe s-links - which 3 definitely was darker towards.

p3p is the better game. making environment navigation menu based made all the non-fightan bits all the quicker to breeze through. It also had all the iterative improvements from p4 with regards to fightan, while keeping some of the cooler stuff (different physical attacks) intact.
