I don't remember exactly but it was after one of those arbitrary rule changes EL loves to do, which resulted in a ban for dcharlie and if followed to the letter would have gotten my ass banned ten times a day.  So I made a post here saying I thought the new rule was dumb and that I'd be cutting back on my posting til EL's interests changed.  It wasn't all that bad, but at the time, disagreeing publicly with his word at these forums was enough to sink my chance.  Afterwards he directly asked the rest of the nominees if they liked his new rule or not.  The ones who put lips to derrière got modded.

My theory is that the 'cunt' thread  pissed off many high ranking people who were having a  purge to raise the quality of posting on GAF by eliminating un-pc posters and forcing down the throat of the collective that whole 'everyone is an unique snowflake and we're all special' stuff. With Evil saying 'thats enough'; their campaign came to an abrupt and sudden end.

This probably led to internal fights and now people are stepping down. This explains mumei

But maybe the timing is just a coincidence for Hito, he's been at this for along time so I think he probably just wanted to move on

I think it's more that he got tired of modding. I don't really recall Hitokage in any threads really... outside of protecting the furry thread from ridicule... I guess.

He always said that he didn't let the 'Sane Crew' affect his moderating, knew that was a bunch of lies, he always used to refute those claims so hard as well, he should have just owned up to doing it, publicly resigned himself from modding any rape/women/outrage topics and maybe he'd still be a mod today. Not having a go at Devo though as what Mumei does isn't her responsibility.

I was a mod on GAF once, too.  There is indeed a closed-subforum for mods, but it wasn't like people sat in there, conspiring on who to ban.
