It's more annoying on places like reddit where the entire gaming section has turned into Portal 2 threads but then reddit gaming is kind of annoying anyway. Note I also hated that "I love bees" crap from Halo years back. "Viral" marketing is bullshit in general imo. Just show me a couple of videos and put up some game information and that's all I need without the hype train. I like Portal but I realize I don't like it remotely as much as a lot of people which leads to this sort of frenzy. Which is fine. Different strokes.

Well they are fucking morons. I took the opportunity to play Defense Grid, a game that I had already bought on sale a while back but never really got a chance to get into. Even then, I've only played it for a few hours. I've enjoyed it immensely. But yeah, fuck Valve.

3 hours in. game is fantastic. without spoiling stuff i'm at the parts with the speed/jump gel. actually i'm passed that too but if you're there you know what part of the game i'm at. puzzles are really fun. writing is super good. graphically they've definitely upgrades Source. it's mostly the lighting/shadows, post effects and motion blur that does it. the game screenshots really good unlike most games. i feel i'm about over halfway through i imagine. give or take.

Source engine has definitely been beefed up. They're doing some nice dynamic lighting stuff now that makes everything feel more alive.

That opening sequence is fucking bananas. Crazy mindbending shit like that is worth 20 Crysis 2's worth of things blowing up.

well your results may vary. i do tend to burn through games fairly quickly so my time may be quicker than most. i imagine the average will be around 6 hours. a lot of games nowadays are around that length but this is dense with some amazing content. plus the co-op which is supposed to be just as long and has its own story. then there's also developers commentary which (hopefully) is full campaign. so i think the package is worth it.
