Ive never used screen protectors on any of my mobile/portable devices and ive never had a problem. I cant imagine the vita having issues specifically- just requires proper care.

in my experience people get that 'new car' syndrome when they first get their new portable- every speck of dust is suddenly a fuckin emergency. Just dont play it while eating chips, dont drop it, and keep it in a case.

I messed around with a Vita and I'm more down on it now.  Image quality of Uncharted is terrible.  Dial down whatever's pushed and run the games at native resolution.  Whatever efforts were put into the effects and models is wasted when it looks that bad.  Gravity Daze was bad too, but it wasn't as bad with that art style.  Wipeout looked nice.

I saw a lot of praise of the analogs but I didn't like them.  There's barely any range, not much resistance, the surface is small and convex with no real grip other than the soft rubber.  The position is good, though; PSP placed it right under the d-pad and it sucked.  Still, as much as I prefer analogs to sliders, I don't know if this is better than the 3DS slider.  The "use motion for fine aim" thing in Uncharted makes more sense now.

Backtouch screen is definitely going to be an issue.  The way I hold it, my fingers rest on 1/4th of the pad to the left and right, meaning only the middle half is unobstructed.  Those rubber grips on the back are worthless.

positive stuff...d-pad is really great; the best d-pad Sony has made and probably the best since the gameboy micro.  face buttons are small, like 3DS size, but they feel better.  shoulder buttons are great.  the entire thing is just comfortable to hold, probably because of how big it is.  screen is incredible (if only the games weren't sub-res  :'().  Gravity Daze seems really cool.

Yeah, they just notice it looks like shit and think the game has bad graphics for no reason other than for having bad graphics.

While I agree Uncharted Vita is going to rock for the gameplay (Bend :rock), the fact that it's the flagship title, is $10 more than every other handheld game in existence and has worse image quality than a psp game is pretty disgusting and embarassing for Sony.

I'm pretty annoyed that the games I really want like Hot Shots 6, Uncharted, Gravity Daze are all running sub-native resolution.  It's one thing on PS3 but Sony should not be allowing it's first parties to pull this crap right at launch.  Vita is supposed to be an OMG LOOK AT THOSE GRAPHICS SYSTEM, and that only hurts their selling point.

Good thing all those games still scream "OMG look at those graphics!" then!   :lol

Show me another portable game console with visuals that match up.

You're also gonna be disappointed with Uncharted's game play, Bebpo.   Naughty Dog > Bend.  You HAVE to use the motion aiming or gunfights just don't work.  Boo.  Hiss.

it's cool that it has crossover stuff with the PS3 game but you'll need to buy both copies and I wonder who'd do that*

other games like the motorstorm rc game are buy once and it's playable on both.  I'm hoping more games do that.

I'm buying my vita at launch for Shinobido 2.  I don't think I'm buying anything else, unless Ragnarok Odyssey is coming to north america.  Retail, at least.  Sumioni seems like it'll be a downloadable ~$10 game.

Game I want most is Gravity Daze but that's not launch.  or is.  it's not clear.

although Unit 13 is looking good.  It's doing The Club thing where it's short score-based shooter levels.

Once again, reasons to buy a Vita at launch:

*Uncharted if you love Uncharted or TPS games
*Wipeout if you love racing games
*HOT SHOTS GOLF if you enjoy life
MLB if you like baseball
FIFA if you like soccer
BLAZBLU or UMVC3 if you ever wanted to play them while traveling
SIGMA if you want an amazing action game to play on the crapper
Super Stardust if you like SSD
Shinobido 2 if you want stealth ninja action cause the genre is dead
Lumines if you want more music
Katamari if you want more music

And post-launch:

*Gravity Daze if you like Siren/SH1 and think he can pull off another great game

I consider the ones with * as absolute must have system sellers as a FAN OF THE WACKY JAPPY (and good developers).  Any of them on their own would be enough for me to get a Vita day 1, but all together it's the best damn lineup since the Dreamcast US release.

Well, it has the wacky jappy but I'm only listing english localized stuff.

I mean by the time it launches in 2 weeks it'll have:

Good People Die  (visual novel)
Tales of Innocence R (semi-brand new Tales rpg)
Ragnorak Odyssey (Korea + Gamearts remaining staff = ???? but impressions apparently are good)
Gravity Daze (animu action)
Hot Shots Golf
Katamari
Lumines
Shinobido 2
Disgaea 3 w/extra scenario

Some of those are less must have than others, but I still find that to be a really solid list of kooky Japanese games that I know and love.  I think there's more Japanese games on that initial launch list that I would want than there are on the entire 3DS library a year+ out so far.  Until YsVIr and Zero no Kiseki upgraded edition come out, those are good enough for me.

btw Oscar, I gave FF Music Band Game another shot and I will dial back on my harsh criticism.  The more I played it and the better I got at the higher difficulties, the more enjoyable it was.  It's pretty alright and if you tap calmly it shouldn't break your touch screen and is fun in a nostalgic FF way.  I still think the commands don't really go with the beats all that well so it's a bit nonsense instead of feeling like you're playing the song notes, and that the graphics look like an iphone app.  But I'm having enough fun with it that when it gets localized I'll probably pick it up for <$30.

I don't see anything in the launch lineup I want particularly badly.

Come at me, fuckfaces.

i don't disagree, but then again, a new hot shots and portable dynasty warriors are all i need. a half-baked blazblue patch level release is a bonus on top of that! MUST HAVE. i'm passing on uncharted and umvc3, although i have mild interest in those; and if turns out that gravity daze isn't an ambitious but poorly-controlling ani-turd i'd give it a shot as well. super star dust delta and disgaea 3 are FLAVA GRAVY. all in all, a strong launch month for me!

Vita games are on PSN at a 10% reduced price, compared to retail, but it was never announced.  at one point the game pricing was 30-40-50, and now those $30 games are $40.  last week the 3G version was upgraded to include an 8 gig stick, psn game and w/e.  no US passport just confirmed.

there were rumors that PS1 games would be supported by US release.  yeah, probably not.
