I messed around with a Vita and I'm more down on it now. Image quality of Uncharted is terrible. Dial down whatever's pushed and run the games at native resolution. Whatever efforts were put into the effects and models is wasted when it looks that bad. Gravity Daze was bad too, but it wasn't as bad with that art style. Wipeout looked nice.
I saw a lot of praise of the analogs but I didn't like them. There's barely any range, not much resistance, the surface is small and convex with no real grip other than the soft rubber. The position is good, though; PSP placed it right under the d-pad and it sucked. Still, as much as I prefer analogs to sliders, I don't know if this is better than the 3DS slider. The "use motion for fine aim" thing in Uncharted makes more sense now.
Backtouch screen is definitely going to be an issue. The way I hold it, my fingers rest on 1/4th of the pad to the left and right, meaning only the middle half is unobstructed. Those rubber grips on the back are worthless.
positive stuff...d-pad is really great; the best d-pad Sony has made and probably the best since the gameboy micro. face buttons are small, like 3DS size, but they feel better. shoulder buttons are great. the entire thing is just comfortable to hold, probably because of how big it is. screen is incredible (if only the games weren't sub-res :'(). Gravity Daze seems really cool.
