My white 2000 model arrived today. Transferred my backup to the new 64GB card and did some comparisons between the two models.
Initial impressions are that the 2000 model does not feel as "cheap" as I've heard; the build is solid and the slimmer, sleaker shape is more appealing than the 1000 model was. The 1000 was already comfortable to hold and use, but the 2000 is definitely more ergonomic and lighter, with better face and shoulder buttons. The smaller rear touch pad area also makes the system more comfortable in your hands, with far less of a chance that you'll hit the panel by mistake when playing.
But the 2000's LCD screen, while still very good, does not hold a candle to the 1000's OLED screen. There's just no comparison when it comes to the warmer, vivid colors that just pop off the screen and the brightness/black levels. That said, the LCD's cooler color scheme does fit some games better and I noticed that the LCD is a bit sharper, whereas the OLED almost seemed a bit blurry when I compared games. PSP games also looked noticeably better on the LCD because of the sharpness.
Should you upgrade to a 2000 if you own a 1000? The choice comes down to whether or not you prefer the OLED screen versus better form factor and battery life. If you're a new buyer, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the 2000 model. Even though the OLED is superior, the 2000's LCD is still pretty high quality.

Screen comparisons and the 2000's LCD screen quality at various angles. Brightness levels were at medium on both systems. The first photo is of similar modes with the same character in both Senran Kagura games. It pretty much speaks for itself...1000, no contest. But with BlazBlue, I preferred the look on the 2000.
