another episode is out, this time is densha de go,as a kid i used to buy a console magazine called consolemania and they had a section called "MAD IN JAPAN" that featured mostly weird and wacky jappy games like derby stallion (a horse racing simulator) and densha de go,so what's densha de go? it's a train operator simulator, you have to speed up... brake at the right moment, can't you just feel the excitement out of my words? the most amusing thing about the game is probably that it comes with a controller which is shaped like a train transmission system

the funny thing is that before going legs up densha de go was actualy one of the succesfull taito IP so they made a lot of them
here's a list

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Densha_de_go

and a video

i tought you would be old enough to be married oscar....

uh... anyway,no new episode so why i'm bumping this? because someone called discotek bought the rights to kotaku episodes and is making a dvd out of it,with both the english and japanese announcer and also new subs,no actual release date other than "summer" but here's the press release

Quote
Retro Game Master (Gamecenter CX) DVD collection coming soon! Will contain 12 episodes that were shown on Kotaku. Two audio tracks. One with the english narration and one will the full Japanese language and English subs. The Tamage and other segments can't be licensed for various reasons. Extras will be hard to come by. Licensing Japanese TV is a complicated process. We're trying for a summer release. Depends on if we get the artwork soon enough. I'm hoping for July but it might be more like August. We will be retranslating the subs with someone more familiar with the series. There is a possibility for more episodes in the future but it really depends on the success of this set. If it sells well then we will try and get more episodes. I personally love this show so much that I basically took a chance with it because of how addicted I am to watching it!

apparently the translator redoing the subs for the dvd is the one that's also doing all of the fansubs :lol

new episode is out, this time it's the first megaman game, personaly while i love megaman 2 (see avatar) i never could suffer trough the original with it's super bland looking level and it's bleepy music

i tought this would be the last megaman episode as megaman 2 and megaman 3 got already subbed but apparently he played megaman 4 in season 14 (current season is season 15) so there's still that

allright i found the actual show (can't believe i found the site but missed that) it's nice to follow and written well without feeling it sucking nintendo dick too much (though i haven't seen the super mario bros or zelda related episode... man there were lot of games released before super mario bros... i always tought it was supposed to be the launch title since it came packed with duck hunt and all...)

but at the same time hearing someone talking about donkey kong junior math for 4 minutes is well... kinda horrible,he should have separated each game in it's own video instead of doing 15 games all at once

new episode is out... it's another quiz game so i have exactly zero things to say about it

the birthday episode was kinda lame, they cut all the challenge and just left a bunch of segments like sakurai and yuji hori giving him message's,they play a totaly goofy anime inspired song to him tough :lol
i can't help but have the burning feeling the only reason the fantranslator decided to translate this it's because her fanart is featured on the episode

there is also an episode of another show that feature arino as a guest star and he play stuff so it's sorta center cx if you want to double

well yeah but with the lemmings challenge they left bit of the actual challenge here and there in another summary....

anyway, there is a new episode, this time it's street fighter 2010,this one got talked by a bunch of internet "celebrities" (if we can talk about them like that) like the AVGN and the spoonyone both of which have described the game as an horrible piece of unplayable dreck,so this gotta be fun

new episode is out, this time it's... the actual pilotwing episode! i tought this was a live challenge only but apparently i was wrong

seems the next fantranslated episode are going to be rainbow island and wrecking crew so that the whole season 12 get's wrapped up when the DVD release hit and we get the shiren episode too, wrecking crew is apparently a special episode since it's episode number 100

aaaaaaaaand rainbow island is out,i have fond memories of this one since it got a fairly decent port on the amiga

rainbow island is the sequel of bubble bobble,it's probably not as popular as bubble bobble so some people might not know it but it got it's fair share of ports, for having such a cutesy look it's a pretty evil game, the game features 10 world but the last 3 worlds can only be accessed if you get all the magical trinket in the previous 7,the game let you credit feed EXCEPT in the last 3 world, that's right, after you spent like a bajillion of credit trying to get to the ending, the game just trips you near the end, best of all right after you defeat the final final boss, the game throws lava at you, sure the lava move extremely slow but if you touch it,it's an instant game over no matter how many life or credit you have,so you get booted at the start screen 2 seconds before the ending, truly making it the ultimate jerk move ever pulled off in a videogame

one of the world is also based on arkanoid and feature's doh as a boss, the last 3 world are all based on other taito games (namely fairyland stories, darius and of course the last world is based on the original bubble bobble) in the NES version (the one arino plays) they removed 2 of the extra 3 worlds and changed two of the original seven worlds, one is based on kiki kaikai and the other is still based on darius but the boss is different, tough i doubt arino will go that far :smug

did you know there was a third game to the series? it's called parasol stars and feature human bub and bob using umbrella's as weapon, the music is also super cheerful

tell a personal story about the game or something then

i mean shit, it's bubble bobble.  the forum admin here has bubby and bobby tattooed on his left and right ball respectively.  half the forum are amigatards and rainbow island was one of the few actual good games on that hunkojunk.  we knows the bubbles and also the bobbles.

:meeble

oooohhh i just tought the game was obscure enough that a little bit of trivia would have made thing more interessing,i mean it's not like i'm trying to describe freaking contra!

uh anyway, wrecking crew episode is out, this one too it's a somewhat obscure/somewhat known (see as i have to hear oscar ranting at me again :smug) puzzle game from nintendo featuring mario before mario whoring became common place,it's mostly about mario destroying walls with an hammer while trying to dodge enemies... personaly i gave it a spin and i left unimpressed but i guess it was popular enough cause it got a sequel for the snes called wrecking crew 98 which actualy plays more like a classic vs puzzle game

it also features the most fabulous nintendo character ever :-*

aaaaaaaaaaand another episode is out, this time it's an episode from the first season!

the first season of game center cx is special because before they decided the show to be about arino challenging games it was mostly about interviews with famous japanese developers, this episode is the capcom one so arino goes interviewing keiji inafune, hiroyuki kobayashi and atsushi inaba (who shows arino the original phoenix wright design doc)

these episode have a challenge segment too but it's only 10 minutes long, these got translated a long time ago by another group (tv-nihon) but in case you missed them the first time, now it's your chance chance to watch them again, the challenge in this episode is none other than steel battalion which i guess make this the only xbox game to be ever featured on the show

man first season episode are sort of boring,i mean i love phoenix wright and as such appreciate knowing more stuff about it but in the end it just feels like i've just watched a random guy flaps his mouth rather than learning anything interessing if that makes any sort of sense... doesn't surprise me the group that translated the first episode's decided to cut all the interviews

uh anyway the reason i'm bumping this it's because there has been ANOTHER episode,i'm starting to have trouble catching up
oh but here's the catch, there is no challenge in this one,it's just arino taking a trip tough tokyo, osaka and fukuoka so he can promote the sequel of that game center cx game

new episode is out, this time it's bikkuriman world which is basicaly just wonderboy reskinned with bikkuriman character, what's bikkuriman you ask? apparently it's a whole IP born out of stickers found in candies,so everytime arino find a new bikkuriman character,he attach the sticker related to that character to the board behind him

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bikkuriman

as for those 2 guys who might not know about wonderboy

http://hardcoregaming101.net/wonderboy/wonderboy2.htm

also there is going to be a new DVD with more stuff about arino trip to the US,it's also going to have an exclusive challenge, none the less than die hard arcade!

New episode, in this one Arino plays a crappy old licensed RPG, Famicon Jump, that's full of past and current Jump characters (circa 1988). So lots of Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, and Fist of the North Star.
