Cool, I'll watch it in a bit. After watching the episodes that have been subbed lately, it really drives home how lame the kotaku episodes are. The extra segments (especially the tamage) add a lot to the show and they help a lot with the pacing.

Maybe they'll get it right for season 2.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
there probably won't even be a season 2

Sometimes they do. Sometimes they overprice things, too. The one in Vancouver still has all of Macross Frontier on Blu-ray for like $35 a disc.

there has been another subbed release by SA though apparently the sub are still an "alpha" and apparently they are going to release a better version later

the episode in question is none other than zelda a link to the past

the cleaned up sub are out, though it's kind of an underwhelming episode, they cut out a lot of part and it's mostly arino defeating all of the bosses... i guess seeing him opening chest and pulling level wouldn't make for an amazing episode

oh and the next kotaku episode got announced! mighty bomb jack!

the mighty bomb jack episode is a two parter but kotaku only translated the first part and declared the challenge over, they are more incompetent than a storm trooper with a red shirt >:(

i asked in a forum if the subbers at SA are going to sub part 2,i wonder if they are going to hear my plea

I'm glad that Kotaku picking the series up seems to have made it a lot more popular, so we're getting subs regularly now instead of one episode every 3-12 months.

Today's Kotaku episode is Atlantis no Nazo / Mystery of Atlantis... another one that's already been subbed. Lame. I still have one or two episodes to catch up on, so I'll just download one of them instead.

btw, the Mighty Bomb Jack episode was awesome.

This week's Kotaku episode is........ S.O.S. / Septentrion. AKA the episode that SA just subbed. D'oh.

The 53 Stations of Tokkaido episode was great. The Zelda episode was boring. I don't like it when he plays easy games, unless they're story driven like Out of This World or Flashback.

one of the guys interviewed says something along the line "nothing will ever dethrone starcraft" i guess the announcement of starcraft 2 did really rock their world :lol

The Starcraft pro interviews were the most boring part of the episode. The one part at the end when he showed the guy his figure was pretty good though.

But overall, the episode was still great. I don't think it was as good as the North Trip episode, but it was still awesome. I hope they sub more like it (are there even any more like it?).

he takes a trip to the cannes film festival to publicize retrogame master (this was well before kotaku picked the episodes) i actualy saw the episode without sub and i thought it was really funny how he would stop to tell random people "JE T'AIME" (i love you) i was surprised to see him pull the same trick in this episode :lol

subber said they aren't going to pick it for now because they don't want to translate 2 trip episodes too close to each other

I use this site for the sub links now. http://www.gaki-no-tsukai.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2653

Anyway, the Contra episode was okay. I haven't played the NES Contra since I was a kid, so I don't know the exact differences, but based on the arcade version, the difficulty of that game is blown way out of proportion. It's actually not hard at all to 1cc, let alone complete with continues and stage select. But maybe t he NES version is harder, I dunno.

in each episode there is a segment where they go visit an arcade or a game shop and just dick around for a while....

in this episode they visit a shop that sells ULTRA RARE WESTERN GAMES and arino gets to pick "playboy the mansion" without having any idea what the game is about, sadly he doesn't play it then he plays the korean version of god of war without having any idea about what's happening

it was like watching in a horrible twisted alternative reality :o

anyway there is a new episode abound, super mario 64 part 1,i guess they are going to sub the rest of season 4 so expect the next 2 episodes to be super mario 64 part 2 and kid icarus

For one it looked amazing.

Also it came out at the height of the Mario cult, when people still relied on Nintendo Power for their gaming "news".

Were you alive when SMB3 came out? Might be part of why you don't get it.
