Any new Musou games on the way? Per Omega Force’s Wikipedia page, a lot of their recent games are non-Musou titles.

They're releasing dlc for Pirate Warriors 4 and Fate/Samurai for the time being.

IIRC The musou producer recently said something along the lines of being sorry that they were unable to announce anything last year, but should be able to announce something new this year.

Thanks. It’s my favorite series to just turn my mind off and escape for a couple hours. Persona 5 Strikers was not my thing but otherwise I’ve exhausted the other games in the series. Are their non-Musou recent releases any good?

Dynasty Warriors Origins looks dope as hell.  Haven't been this excited about a Dynasty Warriors in a long time.

Oh shiiiiiii

I haven't played Fate Samurai yet but have read good things.  I would also recommend Fate Extella Link.  It's a really good non omega force musou.

They must’ve heard us talk!

Trailer looks good, hopefully they’ve taken the last few years since DW9 Empires to put in a good effort.

I started playing Fate Extella Link, which is the second of third in the series. Played a few of the stages. It’s a decent Musou title. Not as strong gameplay and the animu is cranked up to 11 but it scratches the itch. I ordered the first game and will switch over to that. I appreciate the recommendation.

The first one isn't as good- there's a lack of special moves and more annoyingly, you have to play through the game like four times to get the real last boss and ending- there's three main characters and then you have to clear it again with Nero iirc. It's a real slog if you're reading all the story.

Another annoying thing are these enemy types whose presence generates more enemies- you'll find yourself constantly running back to conquered zones to kill them off before the enemy takes it over again.. it can get tedious.

While Dynasty Warriors Origins is looking awesome and already getting some good reviews, I think I'm passing on it for now- the main reason being that I really don't want to be stuck playing as 'generic NPC dude' for the entire game.  It's a big head scratcher to me why a series known for a huge number of playable characters and custom characters in its Empires games now has you just playing as a single one who can't be customized.

Although he can use different weapon types, apparently it's limited to only 10 weapons total.  This sucks.  And it sucks even more because I really liked the demo a lot.  It's pretty fun to play and a big step forward for these games, but the campaign is supposed be something like 30 hours long for one full playthrough (and there's a point where you need to align with one of the three kingdoms, which changes the story up, so it's a huge RPG-like campaign that you need to play at least three times to see everything) and I'm just not really sold on the idea of playing as NPC dude for that long.

I hope they patch it to allow for you to play as anyone, add in CAW options, or play as your partner character for as long as you want.  That might help.  But to me this seems more like a "wait for the XL version or sequel" type of game.  Supposedly no XL version or equivalent DLC will be coming, but this is Koei we're talking about so I'm inclined to not believe them on that.

I've been playing Dynasty Warriors since PS1.

I still have no idea who Lu Bu is except that everyone who plays DW fears him.

I played the first couple battles and the game is not very strong to me so far. It reminds me a lot of Spirit of Sanada vibes but it’s pretty well stripped back. It has made some attempts to create some epic moments but it just didn’t work for me. I might be the only one who likes Dynasty Warriors 9 so I’ll keep plowing ahead.

It may just be that the game is made for a different crowd than usual.  And this might pay off for them- reviews are pretty positive.  Let's see how it sells.

I completely agree that I’m not the target market here. I was just a bit surprised that this is like a stripped down Spirit of Sanada thus far. I’ll keep playing so maybe I’ll be proven wrong.

Played a few more hours of this and I am just not very impressed with this game. Requires a lot of grinding for skill points to get more abilities and is probably one of the most featureless Musou games I’ve played. I do understand why critics like this more than some of the past titles as the battles attempt to be more epic and cinematic. People seem to love origin stories too. I’m enjoying this less than Dynasty Warriors 9.

Damn.  Scathing!

I wonder if this game already fell off?  Don't see anyone talking about it.

Wouldn’t surprise me. I haven’t touched it since I last posted about it. This game fell completely flat to me.

Warriors Abyss is legit.  Vampire Survivors style game play, but you are in full control of your character and can do the typical musou style combos.  Didn't see any options to do special moves so it's a bit more simplistic in that regard.  You can also equip companion characters who will pop up and do their attacks when you do certain combo strings.  Warriors and this style of game go together really well.  I did a run, upgraded my character and got more companions, got some items, and then challenged the first boss but he got me.  This is more fun than DW Origins!
