Pokemon BW is terribad, classic Nintendo regurgitated crap. Not playing another till they they get rid of gamefreak and get CC2 to do a 3D pokeymans RPG. Maybe it would be better if I didn't have a PSP with better portable RPGs to play :/

Yeah, no.  Your ideas are terribad, sir.  As someone who hated ruby/sapphire and lost interest in diamond/pearl real quick, I'm hopelessly into this game.  They've streamlined so much for the better.  Leveling is fast.  Routes don't linger on forever.  There's a constant string of rewards.

Now, the story is a little too laid on for my tastes, but whatever, I have an electric tarantula and its the greatest feeling in the world.

I think the estore is a massive improvement over past offerings and theres only a few minor things that need to be addressed.

I think it desperately needs a bunch of UI and navigation improvements.

I'd kill for an option to toggle the icons like the home screens. I'd like to jump to icons quickly without having to scroll through those glorified store ads. It's probably intentional, to forcefully expose you to them, but I'm still hoping they'd wise up and add it.

Next are prominent icons for genres or predetermined key filters, instead of clicking menu > search > edit filters to generate lists.

Speaking of lists, a LIST view would please me, like the one in the "Chart" section.

I get what they're for with the current UI and browsing experience, but it's really counter productive for me, the experienced, non casual browser. I rarely launch the store without a a predetermined destination in my mind. .

(I'm not even gonna bother with bitching about account and wallet settings, because that has more to do with Nintendo's backwards philosophies rather than the app design itself)

Not sure what racing simulators have with this(don't like them) but Nintendo is certainly annoying me lately.

Not that I care about Nintendo handheds/games but they are certainly not doing any favors to handheld market. They are stumbling around left and right and making dedicated handhelds a laughing stock...what is next, capacitive touch add-on?Second GPU,CPU?More RAM?

3DS flopping around is not doing any favors to Vita...quite opposite, imo

I want Vita to succeed(software wise) so I'm a little bit bias...but just a little

Nintendo is dying. Today the company attempted to wow gamers with an "extensive line-up that has probably never been seen before in the history of video games," announced company president Satoru Iwata, but the offerings failed to impress, Reuters's Isabel Reynolds reports. "Nintendo's attempt to rescue its failed 3DS handheld games gadget failed to dispel market gloom, triggering a 5 percent share slide and stoking deep worries for an iconic brand desperate to win back users." Nintendo's not just some one-hit wunderkind to come out of the digital revolution. For many decades the company has popped out gaming and console hits alike. But things are different now; gaming has changed. Its gone mobile and Nintendo refuses to jump on that. And its reluctance to evolve is suicidal.

Nintendo doesn't get that nobody wants Nintendo gaming systems anymore. The 3DS stinks. From NES to N64 to the Gameboy to Wii, Nintendo has produced gaming systems that people want to play. Not many want to touch the 3DS. Sales are way down, reports The Wall Street Journal's Juro Osawa. This might have something to do with a general lack of support for 3D tech, argues The Guardian's Charles Arthur. "It may also signal that 3D technologies --which were held up at the start of 2010 as a new way to encourage people to buy new laptops, TVs and consoles--are not grabbing the attention of buyers in the way that hardware makers had hoped." But, more likely, it's a result of Nintendo's bad timing, explains Osawa. "An attempt to replicate the great success of its predecessor, the DS, released in 2004, the 3DS hit the market at a time when smartphones such as Apple Inc.'s iPhone are rapidly emerging as videogame platforms." Gamers prefer playing on their iPhones, iPads, or laptops. And Nintendo's not adapting, as Reynolds explains. "Nintendo has been criticized for sticking rigidly to its own hardware, meaning it has no access to the new generation of mobile devices." We bet you'd buy Super Mario for your iPad if you could.

Not only has Nintendo not segued onto hipper platforms, but the company hasn't developed the types of games people play now-a-days. "Analysts and investors dismissed the line-up as lackluster and largely irrelevant in the face of cheap or free games played on the likes of Apple's iPhone and iPad and Google-powered Android devices," continues Reynolds. The whole gaming scene has gotten less expensive and more social--Nintendo hasn't adapted. Like we said, the company hasn't opened itself up to smart phones nor has it developed games for the changing consumer. Think: More Farmville, less Mario.

Why does this apply to Nintendo only though?

Why don't you go "I had more fun playing my $2 game than the last $50 PC game or $60 PS3/X360 game.  They should all be $1-2"

I've never played a phone game that's been as fun and had as much content as a handheld/console game.  Whenever I buy a $1-2 phone game I'll play it for 30 mins, have fun and then never touch it again.  If I try to play them for more than a few hours I get incredibly bored.

The eshop has to count for SOMETHING.  I'd feel better about it if they could integrate it into the OS so its more prominent, though.  As it is, these investor types want Nintendo to succumb to freemium games and smartphone apps.  Developing properties for these platforms would cannibalise their hardware business and would arguably put them in an even worse position than they are now.  Its all just stock trader short sighted bullshit that doesn't address a way for the 3ds to sell better.  Its not an impossible task, although things are going to have to change.

i'll give it to the ninfags on this forum, at least they're honest about their bullshit

I dunno, some of the obvious cases try a little too hard *coughmagussantacdamiancough*

But, I do appreciate the sentiment.  I think the majority of the world likes what they like for silly reasons.  What separates the insufferable nerds from the rest is transparency.  We all like inconsequential bullshit, lets accept that.

Yeah, the Nintendo doom is delicious, but 99 cent apps aren't going to stop Pokemon and Mario Kart from lining the Big N's pockets.

but here in lies the point - the next Mario Kart and the next Pokemon to come out will be the first ones that are coming up against the full on iOS/Mobile in full flow. iOS is potentially scary for Sony/Nintendo etc because it's a platform - devices run the platform so the user base effectively grows and grows and grows and whilst hardware revisions are required at some point then, lol, guess what? it ties in with most users desire to upgrade their phone every few years. but anyways, i'm digressing.

The big MASSIVE Sarlak that Nintendo (and others) are dangling over seems to be going unnoticed. Gamers might well be interested in these games but the thing that has made the platforms like DS successful is the -extended- market into casual territory. That market has MOVED HOUSE. It's not gone for good or beyond saving but the idea that companies just need to roll out the same games that sold millions last time and that's the key to success are in for a very very rude awakening.

Also - if anyone was in ANY doubt as to how out of touch things are getting - Bit.Trip Saga (3ds) is $40.... the sarlak licks it's lips.

Yeah, $40 for Cave Story 3DS too... a halfassed, ugly polygonal coat of paint on a PC game you can download for free...

Quote
Star Fox 64 3D lacks online multiplayer due to the "vast" costs required to allow gamers to play online, Nintendo has said.

The Star Fox team prioritised perfecting the title's graphics over adding online support, Nintendo's Yusuke Amano told ONM.

"If we wanted to satisfy everyone who bought the game, the costs required for including online support would be vast," Amano said.

Star Fox 64 3D includes all of the N64 original's multiplayer functions and adds gyro-scopic controls and crisper visuals.

But adding online would have taken too much time, Amano revealed, when Nintendo had a deadline for the game to be released as soon as possible.

"For this project what we needed to do was use Star Fox to provide users with a game that shows the appeal of Nintendo 3DS as quickly as possible," Amano stated. "We put a lot of effort into the graphics, and if we had included online support then we couldn't have reached this level in the time allowed."

And like having it come out a few months later to add online would have made any difference either way.

I thought the red one was out the same time Starfox 64 3D was. We've had one in our stock for a while anyways.

Video game accessory maker CTA Digital has officially released its Deluxe Power Grip for the Nintendo 3DS "after months of research and user testing". The grip provides for added comfort as well as extending the battery life of Nintendo's 3D gaming handheld.

The device's shape is designed to fit into the hands in a natural position for longer hours of gameplay without cramping. It's extended-life battery add-on is recharged with an included USB. The Deluxe Power Grip also has a built-in stand to keep the device upright while being set down onto a flat surface. The integrated stand also contains a slot for storing an extra 3DS game.

CTA Digital has set the Deluxe Power Grip's MSRP at $29.99.

So this is basically the 3DS thread, right?

Quote from: adversity1
Found some info on the Grev 3DS game from this blog which is apparently posting info from the Famitsu:

http://sinplelove.blog34.fc2.com/blog-entry-2962.html

Producer: Maruyama
Director: Hiroshi Iuchi (!!)

・Top-down tank shooter
・15 stages, and you can choose between A~L routes
・You shoot once and until the bullet disappears from the screen, you can't fire again
・B button fires shot, L and R reload
・There are three Final stages, and if you clear one you beat the game
・At the beginning of any stage, 20 cards are randomly displayed on the bottom of the screen, and if you match? 4 of them you get a special bonus. Either you can use a special weapon or your armor will regenerate.
・4 player simultaneous play. 4 people can play on 1 cartridge.
・Blog guy compares the graphics to Sanvein:

Sounds kinda lame to be honest, but I guess I'll wait and see. Really odd to see Iuchi directing it though... did he leave Treasure fro Grev? And according to wiki, he worked on Strania as well. Weird.

I think I'm gonna finish Zeruda 64 and put mine up on eBay if there's any shortage of these things this holiday season.

I thought about getting one at Black Friday prices, but realized I should wait for $129.99 and a hardware revision
