I think that Nintendo should support cloud gaming(like Onlive) and support iphone and get out of the hardware game.

I am curious what you guys think.

Actually, my only beef with Nintendo is that they're so greedy that they're fucking themselves over, creating low value hardware and software that was once the cornerstone of some third rate Ubi Soft team. The Wii bubble burst, the Wii U's less than lukewarm reception, and the huge fuck ups regarding the 3DS could have easily been prevented if Nintendo didn't cynically bet that their customer base would be gibbering mongoloids who would just lap up whatever was pinched out for them because it had a gimmick.

Porting shit onto iOS isn't a bad idea. Nintendo could probably charge a premium price for stuff like SMB and rake in tens of millions. SMB would probably sell 10-20 million copies alone, probably far more than that if the cost didn't exceed $2 or $3.

Since they won't, I opt for the "trainwreck" option of letting Nintendo tangle themselves up in a string of hilarious failures. The 3DS second analog nub is a great step in the right direction.

The 3D without having to worry about 3D isn't that bad power wise - time to build an "itunes style" service based around Nintendo IP and have the Wii U and the DSXL+ as the two platforms that are the initial consumer points.

would anyone truly give a flying shit if they weren't 3D? No one cares! 3D on a screen that size is a duff move. Just move to 2D and 3D as an option and let the 3DS die - early adopters wouldn't care too much as they still can play the games (plus battery life goes up as a consequence) and it doesn't technically look like an about face.

I'm only half joking with my crazy DSXL+ idea - i think it's a possibility.

Good idea. Even if Nintendo doesn't want to ditch 3D, why not release a cheaper model for people who don't care for 3d or want longer battery life? TV manufacturers have already been doing that for years.

Don't forget how fast the battery drains on 3DS when you're in wifi. I played RE Mercs online for about an hour and got a flashing battery life. That'll be great for Mohan sessions.

I wonder how long the Vita's battery will last. Even with 3D on, the 3DS probably isn't close to using as much power as the Vita running Uncharted.

in my experience playing PSP from 1000 to Go and everything in between, the "average" PSP battery life is anywhere from 2 hours to pushing past 6. Possibly lower and higher since I've never played extended periods with wi-fi or low brightness. So comparable to PSP is a very vague answer but I guess we'll learn more next week.

Generally what pushed it towards the lower end were constant streaming of data from the UMD, running at a faster rate (333), and things like that.

the problem with vita's battery life is keeping it internal. Sony be fearing another pandora battery situation. on the bright side, they could include a larger battery and make the design more efficient like the iPad/Phones.

Wild guess is 3 or 4 hours. Roughly the same as the 3DS before turning off features.

Release an actual next gen console, scrap the 3DS and license NES/SNES games on the iPhone/iPad. Create a true XBLA clone for the WiiU and allow gamers to transfer these games onto their Apple products as well.

everyone usually jizzes over Nintendo modest handhelds running for 10~ hours - they fucked it all up with 3DS.

PSP was a ton better than expected (lol this thing will last 1 hour!!) - and it's battery was removable - i hope they go that route again.
Sony battery tech is pretty spectacular so if they say 4-5 hours, i'm inclined to believe it.

Someone did post that the battery life was going to be an hour - i can't remember which big name ~~clown~~ video game ~~journalist~~ blogger it was. Sony aren't that stupid - even they wouldn't put out a portable with ONE HOUR battery life

I dunno a dev exaggerated anbd said that it would last 5 minutes if they used the full power of the psvita. I assume it will be like the iphones. Lasts only a couple of hours if you use itys full power.
