Viscen, play Road to Ruin with me stealth, I need a coop partner.

You don't have the co op cheev for it?

It is easier to do stealth alone because if you stand next to Dom you will never be spotted.

Well some challenge was expected on normal, now it's a cakewalk. I'm basicly running up to enemies chainsawing them. Have to say gets a bit more tricky in ACT 4 but still chainsaw charges are viable.

I finished Gears 1 on Hardcore bro in coop with some japanese guy :gun :gun

Horde is insanely good. I couldn't do it for more than half an hour or so in Gears 2 without getting bored but it is my favorite mode now. My friends and I spent a good 2 hours in one session last night. Got up to wave 40 on Normal. Hardcore is going to be extremely difficult I think.

Beast mode is fun but it's over very quickly, and even on Hardcore it is too easy.

Played a mission of the campaign and some horde and beast mode. It seems enjoyable like all the gears games have been. Beast mode is surprisingly more fun than I thought it would be. Running around as a ticker didn't seem very interesting to me in the preview videos I saw, but the variety of creatures you can play as is very cool and fun.

I should be on a bit more in general. I just got through with some life stuff that chewed up the last 4 months of my life. Although I stink in versus stuff in Gears so I'm probably going to stick to campaign, horde, and beast mode stuff.

this game is pretty alright.  only in act 1 but it's moving really slow.  playing on experienced (hard, I guess, since it's the only thing available) and it feels too easy.  I got buttfuked on Gears 1 normal, and Gears 2 normal was about right, so I'm not good at these games.   Dom's introduction is hilarious.  I have no idea who Jace is.  COLE TRAIN WOOOH WHOLE WHEAT BABY.

Now that I finished it, Act 1 is definitely the weakest link out of the bunch.  I'm kind of going back and forth on whether or not the campaign is better than Gears 2.  It doesn't have the variety that Gears 2 had and has fewer set piece battles but the overall combat and the enviornments in Gears 3 are definitely a step up and I'm sure it'll play even better during co-op.  I still don't give a shit about the Gears story but that's what I'm playing these games for anyway.

Played through Beast mode on the Casual level. Really fun. Can't wait to try it out on the other difficulty levels. Going through horde and enjoying that as well. Adding the tower defense stuff really makes horde mode crazy fun and beast mode in and of itself is just great stuff.

Still early in the campaign. In Act 2. Yeah I thought the first act wasn't great but good to hear it picks up.

I've finally decided I just don't like Gears MP. I could play it back in Gears 1 but I just don't care for it now. Too much shotgun rushing. Too much rolling around. The sawed off shotgun is pure bullshit.

I get why some other people might like it, but its not for me. I prefer other style shooters for my MP fix.

I think I was just infatuated with the cover system in Gears 1. Hell I remember thinking at the time that I would never ever play another shooter again if it didn't have a cover system. That's how much of an impact it made on me at the time.

My problem I realize with Gears is that I feel it overly rewards balls out flat out aggression shotgun charging. Or groups of people shot gun charging you. The way I play the gears SP is nothing like how I play the gears MP. I like the single player gameplay style but if you play that way in MP you will get dusted. You have to rush in MP. Its kinda like how rts games play nothing like they do in sp as they do in mp.

I think that's my problem with Gears MP. It hasn't changed much. I think I was just infatuated with it originally and sort of overlooked what the MP is really all about.

I actually agree with this. I still think shotguns are way too dominant even with those changes. But I realize the people who play Gears like it that way. I'm not personally a fan of the all or nothing nature the combat dominance of the shotgun brings to the series. The vast majority of my deaths are still me and somebody rolling around like madmen firing shotguns at each other. I'm not saying its a flaw. More like its not the style of gameplay I personally like.

It was a great ride. More fleshed out then previous ones, overall maybe tad too easy on normal. ai seemed wonky too. Only in act 5 it got a bit hectic.

yeah, I don't know if I like it more than Gears 2 or my tastes have changed after playing so many cover based shooters since then.  Still, the campaign was great.  Too easy on the hardest setting available.  I guess it's because there are always three others with you that you're not as important or something.  Will get into Horde and Beast mode tomorrow.  Not really interested in regular multiplayer for some reason.  I really liked Gears 1, Gears 2 was busted early on and never came back, and right now I just want to be playing Battlefield 3.

objectives got pretty annoying with "wait, go do this first before you can advance."  In Act 4 I remember
spoiler (click to show/hide)
reaching that wire cart thing to transport the fuel and I thought "this fucking thing is going to breakdown or some shit and I'm gonna fight another wave of locust or flood before I can continue."  Sure enough, the cart is held back by a wire, so go cut that first.  Uh oh, enemies are in the way!

Granted, Gears 3 is a journey while Gears 2 was GETTING SHIT DONE.

The AIs from both friendlies and enemies weren't great.  One fight in the game was like the three stooges with Guy A running into acid, dying; Guy B runs in to save him, dies by acid; Guy A eventually crawls out of acid, Guy C runs to rescue, succeeds, both run back into acid and fall down.

And yeah, it seems like co-op is really the standout feature of Gears 3.  Gears 2 added a lot to the core mechanics from Gears 1.  There wasn't a whole lot different from Gears 2 in Gears 3.

Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War 3 has surged to the top of the UK charts. It's the biggest launch of the year so far.

Codemasters racer F1 2011 placed in second, with last week's number one Dead Island in third.

Supremacy MMA, last week's other retail launch, failed to make the top 40.

Gears 3 sold more copies this week than the previous launch weeks of Gears 1 and Gears 2 combined. It's the seventh best launch week for an Xbox 360 title and the 12th largest individual format launch ever.

^was about to say the same thing lol

I don't think people give a shit because some high level dudes are strolling out in the open waiting to get downed.

Beast mode is ok.  I thought it was PvP like L4D multiplayer, but it's just Horde morde in reverse.  It can be fun when you unlock the stronger enemies are rampage lame humans with a berserker.  Horde morde is still really fun.

The cleaver sucks big time.  A dedicated melee weapon should be good like the brute hammer or sword in Halo, but for scrub enemies, it takes more hits than a chainsaw, and it's clunky to use.  Plus you have a nerdy ass run where you drag it on the ground.  The co-op vulcan weapon is cool.

I thought it was a balance between the arena after arena of Gears 1 and more variety of Gears 2.  The basic shooting action is mostly unchanged from Gears 2, for better or worse.  I'm surprised since Gears 2 introduced a lot of new stuff.

Horde goes from piss easy to butterfucked depending on level.  The shopping market is a cakewalk.  The outdoor level wave 20 is either a brumak, armored kantus, grinders, boomers, and shotgun dudes or everything sans brumak with several reapers.

I'm at the end of Chapter 4. I'm having to force myself to finish the campaign. I'm getting sick and tired of looking for fuel. I swear it feels like 2 of the 4 Chapters consisted of me looking for fuel for something. Once I found the fuel it was on to an on rails shooter section.

I have to admit, though... the

I don't know if it works differently on lower difficulties, but I think you need two quick shot with the explosive bow to take down an Armored Kantus, unless it's already in its "yell and expose glowing weak point on mouth" stance.

I started out just doing one to the chest and one to the face.  Later I realized tagging them with a frag takes them out in one hit.  Their offence isn't too powerful on hard so you can easily get next to them without worry.

Got up to the final boss yesterday. Will probably finish it tomorrow.

Good roller coaster campaign although it does start to feel samey by the end. But I did enjoy it. Would like to play 4 player at some point through it. Just played it with one other person. Still have to beat horde mode also.
