Arrietty was pretty good, a light little bit of inoffensive adventure. It's not deep or large-scale or anything like that, but it's fun and looks wonderful.
On the other hand, it's another in a line of recent Ghibli movies that, while certainly GOOD and among the best anime movies being made, aren't GREAT. Like, nothing Ghibli has done since Spirited Away is worthy of being mentioned in the same paragraph as Porco Rosso [which I had to go back to tonight and pop in for a bit]. The elder Miyazaki seems like he's in his twilight years as a creative talent, maybe he's got another movie or two left in him, but I just don't know if you can ever go back to where he was at his height and Ghibli doesn't have anyone else in their stable that's even close to him in terms of talent and vision.
