honestly, the video reminds me of Genji 1. It has that same weird digital momentum to it. But this looks like it's early in the game, so maybe it's not indicative of most of the game.

and I'm hoping not everything from the original videos is scrapped (if they even existed). Cutting support beams to knock down buildings on enemies looked cool.

As usual I think people are over-analyzing video without playing a game. Which is fairly silly.

I always thought it was odd that Kojima was going to make an action game because the worse part about metal gear games for me is the action. So it definitely makes sense to give it to someone who actually understands action games. Whatever bad things you can say about platinum, you can say they understand action. So personally I'm far more interested in this project than I was before.

I would've rather had them go the FFXIII-2 route and fix the problems of 4 and give us a damn game. But a chance at a good hardcore action game by Platinum is not too bad of a consolation prize.

the HD collection is nice. it's been long enough that I've played through MGS that they felt kind of new again. plus, i've never gone above and beyond in MGS, so I'm doing the dog tags and shit like that.

I hated Raiden. Hated MGS 2 because it shoved a dumb ass story down my throat. There was a nice balance between story and action in Metal Gear Solid. It kind of loses that toward the end of the game but still at the time it was pretty awesome. I never thought the series ever found the correct balance again.

When I say normal Metal Gear fans. I mean, people like me who enjoy the stealth and gameplay and just likes to laugh at the stupid cutscenes, likes the characters and codec but doesn't think it's anything more than it really is, replays the game about 10 times until they100% the game, and skips cutscenes every single playthrough after the initial run because fuck cutscenes, I want my stealth. the original rumor had two other parts to it. first was a PS3 release of Peace Walker, which happened, and all metal gear games coming to Steam. I'm starting to regret buying the MGS HD Collection on PS3.

I don't think Kojima was that involved even before the switch to platinum. I remember the whole thing on stage where he handed it off to some other Japanese guy, I think at the Xbox conference.

The original video looked more like playing through MGS4 with katana. Didn't look like much of an action game, like this one does.

It would've been cool if they made it like modern day Tenchu/Shinobido. Still a stealth game, but with more agility/action, so basically Batman.

I'd say your idea of normal is off.

How so? After the initial run, Metal Gear Solid games tend to last at least 5-6 hours. 10 times for a 5-6 hour puzzle game is like 50 hours and some change.

That's nothing compared to what other people sink into other games.

MGS3 has the best balance. The entire middle is the complete absence of story. There was so little story, the distinguished mentally-challenged MGS "story" fans complained about it.

He makes combo games like DMC and Bayonetta where you pound punching-bag enemies all day, and since Raiden is a ninja character, it would make more sense to make a game in the style of Ninja Gaiden, where enemies are an actual threat, but they can be killed in just a few seconds. Or something like Shinobi could work too I guess.

Trailer was kind of fucking awesome in a holy shit this is stupid DMC3/Vanquish/Bayonetta way.

The cutscene direction is pretty sweet. The scenes at the end on the train were really really DMC3/Bayonetta-ish in a good way.

Fighting looks slow, but the game is early apparently. At the end of the day it can't be worse than Madworld and Madworld quality is still far better than any RISING we would have gotten out of Kojima studio newbie staff developled game. So it's win/win.

I was over the MGS franchise after 4 being horrible and killing it. Making a ridiculous over the top action spinoff is just the side direction it needs to go in.
