Pretty much. I never got that far since the game is shit beyond belief.

I don't know how you can claim to enjoy this after playing DA1 on PC. (unless you played it on consoles...)

DA2 may be the biggest dissapointment in my 20+ years of gaming.

I just recently completed DA1 and exp on 360 and even then coming to this right after is such a huge change. There's so little to battles on normal difficulty, and anything harder seems cheap due to respawn patterns and hp sinks. I also find the fundamental issue of the main character as a mage being ridiculous. It was ok in the first since you were a warden, essentially untouchable by even the chantry, but in this one- wtf how do they not know youre an apostate- especially when you have two other apostates with you.

The game was crazy rushed. Nearly every awful flaw in that game (and there are a lot) has that as a starting point.

Yeah, they had, at most, 16 months of development time.

Pathetic. Stop trying to shine up your game by trying to link it to a really good game. Just make a really good game.

Maybe they should just stick to doing what worked, instead of trying to reconfigure each new game in the series?

I would respect them more if they:

A.) Said we fucked up with Dragon 2 in a lot of ways.

or

B.) Just said fuck you we think Dragon 2 was great and we're doing it again for 3. They would be wrong of course but at least it would show some balls.

What's far more annoying is this hey Skyrim is cool. We're gonna make it like Skyrim! It makes all the bullshit they said when hyping up DA 2 all that more transparent.

They had a perfectly fine model in Dragon Age origins to build off and completely ignored it. Why would Skyrim be the answer for them suddenly outside of the inspiration of simply making a great game which Bethesda did.

Whether you like Bethesda or not, you've got to respect them for sticking with their formula. They could have inserted multiplayer, unplayable cutscenes, and smaller and more focused game world, but they didn't. They make a certain kind of game and that's just what they do, and what they've done for more than 15 years. Rather than scrap their model and chase after the current trend, they take what worked in the past and try to fix what didn't.

Bioware, though, seems willing to throw away their identity to chase after current trends and that's really unfortunate because Dragon Age was such a return to form for them.

I think Dragon Age was the victim of Mass Effect 2's success. I think they misread the market. Going the way they went with Mass Effect 2 was a right call imo. It was mostly a broken rpg in the first game. It didn't really work. So going the action route worked in that series.

But Dragon Age Origins worked as an RPG. It's identity was as a throwback old school RPG. Now you can always do things to broaden your appeal. Skyrim has a lot of broadened and even streamlined things done to it compared to older games in the series. But at its core its still a massive unique open world RPG. Dragon Age 2 instead loses what made Dragon Age interesting and unique. I can't remember a damn thing from Dragon Age 2 other than the stupid twist with Anders. I still remember shit from origins.
