It's hard for western foreigners in Japan, because Japan just DOESN'T DO CHRISTMAS the same way as in 'murica. It's not a holiday, so most people work during it. The company I just left, the president was an exchange student in the USA, and he LOVES Christmas, so he gives everyone the day off. Even so, we've had to work it with pretty common frequency when we're in crunch, and it's been taken away pretty casually -- I feel like such a thing would be impossible to pull in the USA.
So, hey, Christmas on a Sunday is pretty much the one day this place couldn't mess with it.
