It's all cinematics anyway. The trailer will be officially released in a couple of days.

Far Cry 2 was a game with interesting ideas buried by bad gameplay. Hopefully this one gets the mix right.

Gameplay was fine, it just had a few bugs and half-baked ideas too many.

I really liked Far Cry 2, outside of having to deal with malaria at the checkpoints that respawned enemies every ten seconds.

I said goddamn that looks awesome!

Loved FarCry on my old AMD Athalon 54 days, loved FarCry2 on my E4400 dual core, and I'm gonna love FarCry3 on my I7 quad core.

All things considered, the Far Cry 3 island seems like a pretty terrible place to plan a vacation. They probably should have checked Yelp or something first.

This game is making me want to upgrade my PC a year earlier than I wanted to  :-\

Really like that the island is full on open world.  My biggest problem with Far Cry 2 was how the open world had all this giant hills forcing you on the main roads.  The respawning guard stations wouldn't have been as much of an issue if there were alternate routes, even of those routes could've been longer or more dangerous in other ways.

and splinter cell needs to open with that lewis carroll quote just to mess with people.

Quote from: Eurogamer
That's because Far Cry 3 is all the best things about open-world gaming. It's a glorious anecdote factory, where you manufacture brilliant new memories every time you wake up in a safehouse and head out into the jungle. It's an astonishing technical achievement, as comfortable revealing incredible landscapes over the brow of a hill as it is when the setting sun winks at you through a canopy, or when the heavens open as you stalk wildlife through the trees and long grass. And it always lets you play, but it also controls the tempo - sometimes a little heavy-handedly, but always with good intentions. 10/10

Quote from: Game Informer
After two remarkable but uneven offerings, Far Cry finally pulls everything together in the third installment. The diverse open-world action, compelling story, and an alluring environment that begs exploration are all high water marks for the series. This is an island adventure all shooter fans should experience. 9.0/10

Quote from: IGN
Causing panic is great, too. Like Far Cry 2, Molotovs or explosive barrels cause chaotic fires that trap and burn enemies. You can combine these last couple things if you’re a real sicko – flaming bears are a frightening sight. You could snipe thugs from a mountaintop, drive into a camp with Rakyat warriors (or C4 charges) in the back seat, or use a knife and bow to kill quietly. If you’re really bold, why not stab a couple guys after dropping from your hang-glider? 9.0/10

Quote from: Game Trailers
There are miles of terrain to discover in Far Cry 3, filled with numerous trials and objectives to explore at your own pace, and an excellent sense of connection with the game’s unhinged cast. The co-op and competitive multiplayer components stand as comparative low points, but chances are you’ll be so busy trekking through this vast island that you’ll likely write them off as just another symptom of jungle sickness. 8.6/10

Quote from: Destructoid
One of those rare games where I feel no mode has been damaged by the inclusion of any others, Far Cry 3 is a well-rounded package that provides a mass of content clearly produced by developers who cared deeply about what they were doing. Far Cry 3 is going to be the last major mainstream release of 2012, and after quite a spotty year, I can at least say this industrious triad of amusements ends the past 12 months on a high note. 8.0/10

Here's a review for the PC version:

Quote from: PC Gamer
Other than [uPlay], it’s a nice PC version: responsive mouse movement, specific graphics and FoV options, tutorials reflect your custom controls, and it runs decently on Ultra-everything on a modest 3GHz dual core machine with a Radeon HD 5800. The engine doesn’t quite suit the jungle as beautifully as it did the African desert in Far Cry 2, but it has some beautiful views.

The original Far Cry’s developers Crytek used to describe that game’s philosophy as ‘veni, vidi, vici’: you show up, you scout out the situation, and you decide how to conquer it. Ubisoft kept the Far Cry name, and Crytek tried to stay true to its spirit in the Crysis games. But only Far Cry 3 really feels focused on doing that concept justice. You’ve got a huge island to explore, ridiculously effective tools for scouting every hostile situation, and so many clever intersecting systems to inspire creative ways to conquer them. It’s a better stealth game than Far Cry 1, set in an open world that feels richer than Far Cry 2’s. That’s an amazing thing to play. 89/100

Played for a bit today via illicit means. (i'll buy the real version when its release in the US) Its very fun. Better focused and actually a lot of fun which were the main problems with Far Cry 2. A major change that is actually a fairly simple one but makes the game a lot better is the AI is made for stealth. They don't see very far, they make predictable patrolling routes, and the game gives you a lot of tools to get around and slaughter them quickly and then keep moving. It's better than the Crysis games in that regard. It's better to have fun AI in a stealth game than annoying AI and they got that balance right this time.

My nephew is addicted to this game. He said offhandedly in a lot of games you are supposed to be a badass but they don't end up feeling that way. In this game you feel like a badass. And he's right.

This is the antidote to what a lot of assassin's creed gets wrong.

I wonder if they intended for this to be a next gen game.  OK, probably not, but that kind of performance reminds me of stuff like Half Life 2 on the Xbox (i.e. Kramer's tight jeans situation).
