From what I watched, Halladay's velocity was up during the first few inning, hitting 92 and 93 on his two-seamer.

Cutter: 89.9 (90.6)

So he's not done yet?

Even with his diminished velocity, he's been worth 1.5 fWAR, good for first in the NL.

Josh Hamilton...4 home runs in one game, for a total of 8 RBIs. Only 15 other players have had that any home runs in a game and the last was Carlos Delgado in 2003.

Why are the Tigers struggling? I need something smart to say at work next time people discuss baseball. Right now I plan on saying "well there's a lot of uncertainty with the bats, you don't know who's gonna be hitting hard except Prince." But that's probably not the smartest thing

I'm taking into account past years, too. I'd weigh Kemp's 2011 a tiny bit more than Hamilton's 2010. They are both beasts, though.

Also, Hamilton plays in a much more hitter-friendly park.

It's insane what one game did for Hamilton's numbers. 4 HR and a 2B will do that. He's only the third player in history to add an extra base hit to the 4 HR. He also hit a HR in his last at-bat the game before, which meant he had 5 HR in 6 AB. Pretty sure no one has done that. EDIT: Nevermind, Shawn Green did that.

It's actually a really great move for the tigers, I think. 2B has been a black hole for them and Sanchez is a really solid starter. Sure, they won't have either of them for long, but they're trying to win now.

Who knows what's happening with the supposed Braves/Cubs Dempster trade... apparently it was happening, wasn't happening, was about to happen, and now who knows. As I said to my friend earlier tonight though, it won't matter if we trade for the reanimated corpses of Satchel Paige and Cy Young if our hitting isn't more consistent. We had ONE FUCKING HIT through eight innings today for fucks sakes.
