It's entirely possible that it's just from where it's been a few months since I read it.

I have to say that the uggo sex, while daunting to watch, was extremely true to the novel. I did appreciate that about it. They went to great lengths to find that fugly of a girl with saggy tits like hers to take her shirt off and basically be a 2-minute soft-core whore.

Bronn wasn'tt made commander, Jacelyn Bywater was; Slynt argues he is too honorable and rigid to be commander, which is why Tyrion chose him. Bronn was tasked with creating a sell sword army for Tyrion. I like this change because it compacts things instead of making people remember another bit character. One could argue it defeats the purpose though: Tyrion specifically chose Bywater because he was honorable. He had to know Bronn would kill a baby if payed, even before asking

Also the episode states Stannis had no children which isn't true. Melisandre confirms she had sex with Stannis on multiple occasions, so that part is true just never shown.

I just caught up to episode 2 now. There weren't this many sex scenes in the first season's episodes but apparently most of these scenes were at least implied in the books. It is treading into soft core territory though.

The king beyond the wall is assembling an army to overrun the wall and then take over Winterfell?

I'm assuming that means the Night's Watch will cut a deal where they let that wildling army pass through the gates so the wall won't be too weakened to repel the white walkers. At which point I can't see Jon Snowe and this abandoned baby that he presumably saved sticking around.

The more I think about it, maybe she could still be in the show just not this season. Melisandre says Stannis' wife has given him no sons, only stillborns; perhaps she meant only stillborn sons. Which could mean he has a daughter, but her not being a boy makes her irrelevant in Stannis' eyes

I honestly sometimes feel a bit apprehensive about even mentioning the show to some people because of the sort of filth they drag out for the sole purpose of keeping the tone as vulgar as possible. With Spartacus (S1 and the prologue season), everyone knows it's a trashy cheesy show - even the writers and creators. But that self consciousness works for the show, and notice every time someone recommends it they say "it's trashy but trust me, it's AWESOME."

This show is not supposed to be trashy or cheesy, in fact it's billed as a serious low fantasy adult show. Yet the main thing a new viewer would probably get from the show is that it's ridiculous soft porn with lots of talking and planning. I like the show, and definitely think these two eps are better than the early ones from S1; I also think the final eps of S1 finally reached "great television" heights, and obviously the potential is there for more of that this season. But I really don't like the writers apparent decision that they can't trust their audience, therefore must distract them with WILDE HETERO.

You can tell with the second season of Spartacus that they payed close attention to GoT, and decided to increase the random sex ten fold.

My dad was asking about KING OF THRONES yesterday. Eh, he reads a lot - a mixture of sports novels/biographies, Dean Koontz type mysteries, and he also dabbles in some fantasy; he's a big Narnia fan and is currently reading the Aragon books...

He's also a very slow reader, so I doubt the series would be for him. He'd probably like the first book given it's pace, but after that who knows.
