I have a few tips that makes coffee awesome. Before I brew I put a little bit of brown sugar in the carafe. This gives it a nice taste. For creamer I only use heavy whipping cream. Yum!

there can be a huge difference between types of coffee and the caffeine response, btw. Get the best beans you can find (look for the 'Q-Grade' certification), grind while fresh and you shouldn't suffer the jitters etc overly.
