So I'm guessing they're not gonna talk about the next Xbox then? :(

Looks like it's all up to Sony, now.

Terrible. It didn't even have the unintentional hilarity of the last few years. Just a bunch of tired 'splosion fests and underwhelming Kinect junk. Fuckin' A, man.

I'm guessing all of Sony's "surprises" already got leaked.

I really do wonder if they'll mention PS4, seeing how MS didn't talk about the next Xbox.

yeah, conferences are mostly meaningless.

that said, it's hard to imagine the other two being more boring.  Nintendo's will either be exciting because it delivers ( :spin) or funny because it pulls a self-potato.  Sony at least has some Ellen Page games and Vita humor.

I didn't expect much. Microsoft even said themselves that the focus wasn't on games but entertainment ventures. I was pulling for a Dead Rising 3 trailer and more on Ryse but whatever. Overall it was abysmal for gamers but Microsoft did everything they needed to do in order to win the holiday season.

Next year we'll see those new games they've got planned for the Xbox 3. Hope they're good.

so that's like their motto for the last 3 conferences? Sad really.

Usher dance off is what will get new people to buy a 360 for Christmas.

If they position the 360 as a media box, they can continue to sell it for years at a low price while the games shift over to the 720

I was half-waiting for a pricedrop; if they had dropped the 4GB units to $99 I would have gotten one as a streaming device/game thing for the bedroom but I guess I'll just have to get an Apple TV or something now.

These MS conferences really give me the impression that they don't care about gamers anymore. Wasn't the whole point of the XBox division to try and take over the living room before Sony could? They pretty much have that with all the entertainment/kinect crap. It's why I'm really surprised to hear that they decided to beef up the next box's specs.

Nothing embarrassing but straight up boring. And ending it up with Black OPS 2 is such a big FUCK YOU.

However, Xbox Smart Glass destroyed poor little Wii U pad in like...5 minutes.

ya, Smart glass will be used as much as gameboy connectivity.  Not only is the extra device non-standard, it has to work on both phones and tablets all with different resolutions and capacities.

Quote
The reason for this "skinning" is the variety of platforms, requirements and resolutions there are spread across phones and tablets. Rather than ask individual developers to come up with their own Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone versions of each "companion", Microsoft's app will be cross-compatible with all of them; game developers need only write their code for the Xbox Live Companion App and Microsoft will take it from there.

Quote from: elcranky on GAF
OK by my count there were 5 seperate groupings of things, any one of which is sufficient to "win" E3.

Nike partnership - Tremendous announcement
Sports integration - massive killer apps
Core games - excellent breadth and depth to core games
Kinect - fantastic integration and use of kinect in core games

and of course the fully expected megaton of Smart Glass, which pretty removes any reason to buy a Wii U while booting Sony out of the living room. Even within Smart Glass there were further megatons, especially a fully functional, touch enhanced IE. At this point, I think that the war for the living room between MS and Sony is over and Apple is on the chopping block.
