IIRC, the two hotels were owned by the same company. So they were cutting down costs by having just one restaurant, and they were really like right behind one another.

They're literally right behind each other, just separated by those service streets in Miami.

So the dude from this episode:
http://www.travelchannel.com/tv-shows/hotel-impossible/episodes/the-ocean-manor-resort-fort-lauderdale-fl

Also just got his bar redone by the guy from Bar Rescue. Was in the second episode of the new season. I spent all of it going, I KNOW THIS GUY AND HIS ONE STUPID V-NECK SHIRT.

THEY'RE CROSSING THE STREAMS!!!

There's a Bar Rescue thread around here somewhere I think... EDIT: Found it: http://www.thebore.com/forum/index.php?topic=37389.0

Now I need Anthony, Jon and Robert Irvine to team up and make over like the Cheyenne Holiday Inn or something.

By next season he's going to be going "No WiFi? *gasps* Really? Really?!? NO WIFI? LOOK OUT THIS WINDOW, LOOK AT THESE BUILDINGS! AND NO WIFI?!? WHAT IF THEY TRY TO PLUG A PATCH CABLE IN THE ELECTRICAL SOCKET? THEY COULD DIE!!!!"

I now have to watch the two episodes again though to see if Jon redid Anthony's bar or vice versa. The bar area was as shitty as the hotel so Frank is really doing a bang up job with his whole operation.

Bar Rescue apparently spent $250,000 on that makeover, just for her to revert it like the next day. They even went back to the 18+ page menu for the moron husband who said "why taste it? I can see it looks good."

It was the perfect inoffensive corporate bar and they could have done Pirate Weekends or something to feed their fetish.

If there's one aspect of Hotel Impossible that compared to Restaurant Impossible and Bar Rescue lags, it's that the owners so far are generally just too beaten down and/or can't be assed with life. I love the open visceral defiance by owners of the other shows. NO, I AM GOING BACK TO MY NOW PROVEN ON NATIONAL TV FAILED PRACTICES! THAT'S HOW WE'LL GET CUSTOMERS!

One of the recent Restaurant Impossibles had the owner getting upset because Robert was tearing up his rat infested kitchen/floors and remaking the menu to not have food the guy couldn't ever possibly cook. And there's been a few of that and Bar Rescue where the owner is clearly steaming through the changes. Then you look em up online and they instantly reverted like Piratz. (Although not generally back to a direction that was completely stupid from the conception. Though some were never cut out for the business.) The people Jon sent into Piratz undercover were people from the prior season who immediately reverted 80% of his changes to their own bar.

A thing I really like about Bar Rescue compared to say, Restaurant Impossible, is there's no twenty plus minutes of WE WON'T FINISH IN TIME HOW WE WILL PAINT THIS WALL?!?!? To the point they can get three test services in during the time of the show when it takes Robert to do one.

I think the owners are just afraid of Anthony though. You have a bald guy running around your hotel freaking out over everything, that's far more scary than some giant dude yelling at you over your known outright shit quality. Plus the show couldn't make over an entire hotel with the budget, unlike a restaurant, bar, etc. It lends this air of guaranteed doom to the show, it's like Anthony is brought in to give last rites and explain why these non-chain hotels died. (And I'd watch it, along with the other shows plus Kitchen Nightmares/Tabitha's, without the likely needed hook of "we'll fix this overnight!" It's not the same thing exactly, but there was that show The Restaurant on NBC back in the day, and I really liked that as like the "collapsing" part of these shows/business, only there wasn't really any rescue. For the restaurant in the show, for Rocco it was called a nose job and selling frozen food.)

Not that I don't want to find out how he could die from the phone or bed or Gideon Bible in his hotel room each week.

Apparently spent $60,000 to remake the bar back like it was  :lol

They were at the Whole Foods over in Redmond, though. The first Whole Foods in the state is three blocks from my house, and it's actually in Seattle, they're not doing anything there. SMH.

What's crazy is how History Channel uses a few shows to generate new ones. Pawn Stars has spawned two shows (restoration show and car show- though that book expert lady they bring in is kinda hot so she can have a show too) and then you have the American Pickers inspired Picked Off, and I even saw one of the guys from Baggage Wars as a buyer on American Pickers (except he had an eye patch and pony tail).

The Nightmare/Impossible/Rescue stuff is better because its spread out across networks and its generally well scoped. The REAL issue right now is TLC :

Bar Rescue seems a lot less scripted than Restaurant Impossible, which is good. Some of the RI's best episodes were in the first season when they were finding dead animals n crap. Now its kinda boring and all I tune in for regularly is Hotel Impossible- while the people arent as crazy, the host is OCD in a weird hilarious short-man way that makes me laugh. Still, some of Robert Irvine's lines in RI are kinda funny/mean lately.

RENEWED:
Quote
The second season of “Hotel Impossible,” premiering on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, will continue to transform struggling and under-performing hotels into bustling tourist destinations through the help of hotel “fixer” Anthony Melchiorri. After secretly scouting each property, Melchiorri identifies its biggest problems and then meets with the staff and owners to determine its key operational issues. As in last season, Melchiorri has just days to formulate a plan, revamp the hotel and re-motivate its staff. For some hotel owners, this is their last hope.

I think Food Network is just burning it off. It's been exposed as fake*: http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/food_network/2012_Mar_27_restaurant-stakeout-fake

There was another place where the employees also said they brought in actors and staged "fake but accurate" events.
