I think that the game will probably be re-fit into FFXV... Ideally, the game will scrap the action elements and replace with a more traditional, turn-based system but we'll see. Anyways

Can't see how it's not just Square Enix. Their production problems are well documented and you add to that how much they probably wanted to gussy up this game and you may have a nightmare. Plus Japan's problem with HD development in general.

It wouldn't surprise me if Versus is dead, but this sounds a lot like Kotaku searching for attention. "It's dead and we're right unless they say it isn't!" They left themselves a "get out of jail free" card at the end of the article.

Places like Something Awful and other places are/were really pumped for it because the setting is new and unique and the thing looks refreshing for final fantasy.
