I watched the first three last night.
Mac & Me: Brilliant. Atlantic Rim: Pretty Good. Lord of the Deep: Starting to get sleepy now.

Ultimately, I think there was one great episode (Mac & Me) and five pretty good ones. That's not bad, I think there was only one great episode from Season 1 as well (Cry Wilderness). Something about children falling in with the supernatural, combined with inept filmmaking, always brings the lulz. The over-the-top product placement for McDonalds, Coke, and Skittles is just the icing on this turd.

Second best episode was The Day Time Ended, because that movie was just a cobbled together fever dream of wtf-ness. It was directed by John Cardos, who's had his oeuvre riffed on many times. He also directed Kingdom of Spiders (Rifftrax), Mutant (Rifftrax), and Outlaw of Gor (MST3K Season 5). This movie may be the most nutso of the lot.

Third best, probably Ator, the Fighting Eagle. I might have even rated it higher if I hadn't just seen it done a few months ago on Rifftrax. I love these corny sword and sorcery movies, and while this one doesn't quite have the gusto of a Deathstalker II, it makes up for it with the utter shamelessness of it's wholesale ripoff of the plot of Conan the Barbarian.

The bottom three movies were kind of eh whatever. Killer Fish is like the Ocean's Eleven of bad monster movies, but it was also just so dull. Atlantic Rim had some decent riffing, but it just feels like a wasted spot. These dime-a-dozen mockbusters don't scratch my bad movie itch. Lord of the Deep is an Abyss ripoff that just made my tired. At least it was shorter than The Abyss.

I've watched 4 of them so far.

Mac and Me is solid riff. I'm so familiar with Mac and Me that it takes away a little of the fun for me though. But like I said, solid riffing job.

Atlantic Rim is probably solid but man I hate that movie. The lead character is such a douche. That movie is so annoying it takes away some of the joy of watching it.

Lords of the Deep is strictly average both in the riff and movie.

The Day Time Ended is probably my favorite so far. I wasn't familiar with it and the move is so god damn weird, that it feels like a revelation for me.

I'll finish off the other two soon.

The riffing in general is pretty good. Pacing is a bit better than the first season as they resist the temptation to overly stuff the amount of jokes and take a breath every now and then. The skits unfortunately are mostly duds. They still haven't improved on that front and they don't match the occasional funny awesomeness that the original show brought. I wish there were more episodes also. 8 to 10 episodes at least. But I'll take what I can get.

It's for the best that they trimmed down the number of host segments this season, they're just not good.

Finished up the last two episodes.

Killer fish is mostly meh. The movie is just really boring outside of the last 20 minutes and there just wasn't a lot to riff on to make it interesting.

Ator the fighting eagle is okay. Not great, Not bad.

So the two standouts for the season are Mac and Me and The Day time Ended. The rest are varying levels of okay.

The riffing is probably slightly better than the first season but the choice of movies is generally worse imo. So its kind of a push. Especially since the first season just had so many more episodes and material for me to digest.

Two seasons in and I'm happy the new show exists and they've done some really good episodes but it hasn't yet reached the high points of the original show to me. The writing just isn't quite strong enough. They really need to work on that. Dump the invention exchange and write actual funny skits. The Mads in general are generally a disappointment. Patton Oswalt can be funny but the material just isn't there for him and Felicia Day just isn't comedically strong enough for my taste.

The most infuriating part about Atlantic Rim (the movie) is that they set up this love triangle between the douchebro, the woman, and the sensitive black guy. They establish that the douchebro is a shitty boyfriend; she wants to go help the black guy do his charity work and the douchebro is like "nah babe, let's go to this party and get hammered af, woooo!" Then at the end, it looks like douchebro is gonna sacrifice himself for the greater good, but then it's like "lol j/k, straight white guys win again!"  :usacry

Ator is probably roughly equal to The Day Time Ended. The riffing is better on TDTE, but I personally enjoy watching shitty old fantasy movies, so it's a push.

I'm glad they keep doing these, it's a fun nostalgia trip.

btw, I watched Retro Puppet Master (w/Rifftrax) on Amazon Prime and good lord is this a bad movie. I haven't seen any of the Puppet Master movies besides the first one, so I'm thinking "okay, evil puppets killing people in pre-WWI Paris". Nope. There's almost no puppet action, and the bad guys are "mummies" that look like pasty guys with bad skin that kill people by pointing at them and saying "Die". I can't even imagine a less scary horror movie villain. The only redeeming value is Mark from The Room doing a bad French accent.

By presenting these ridiculous, horribly made films to the world, MST3k gave them that chance. That, more than anything, I think is its noblest legacy: it not only kept these films alive, but helped to spawn an entire industry based around finding and preserving films that don’t have any apparent value.

This allowed the work of thousands of people to be seen and appreciated. In spite of the ridicule, it showed that even some of the worst films ever made still have value.

Holy shit.. It just dawned upon me that Kylo Ren is Canadian Villian, GARTH VADER from The Final Sacrifice.  Same voice, clad in all black and interrogating people for a map constantly.
