Got probably halfway through "The Funeral" last night, controller ran out of juice, and my second controller's batteries were dead as well for some reason. I had no other batteries. I accidentally left my charger back in Osaka.

Having an interesting evening of Sleeping Dogs and XBL buggery:

Last night I played offline, and used a memory unit stored profile to do it.

When I played tonight, I booted my 360 without the memory unit, AND online, where it updated from the server, I guess. The Achievements I made last night were not on the XBL servers, but they were on the memory unit version of my profile. I played for about three hours before noticing this. When it popped an Achievement which I already had, I thought "Hm, that's odd."

When I rebooted the 360, where it should use the memory unit-resident profile, but the Achievements were still gone. The more recent gamertag data is likely given priority.

So I reverted to an earlier save game data, completed the one Achievement which would be otherwise impossible to get without a substantial replay (lucky!), then popped back to the normal save.

BACK TO BUSINESS AS USUAL, I thought, so I cruised out to get some Curry Fish Balls or whatever -- at the button prompt TO BUY FOOD, I was warped into a bus, the map came up, and I was told to select a destination. I tried to Cancel out, and was then shown as a passenger in the bus, riding around wherever the driver was going. ??? The button prompt to buy the food was also still on the screen.

I've just reloaded again, but am thinking it's probably time to call it a night.

The games pure DX11 isnt it? XP isnt supported, so has to be.
No idea. But I set the AA to high, and the population to extreme. Ambient occlusion to nul lol. It looks lovely, probably not as nice as SR3, but still. Next gen etc.

the rain effects at night in this game are omg

anyway, i beat it yesterday and the game stays consistently fun the whole way thru.  like i said before, there's nothing revolutionary about the game, but it's just solid.  the missions dont get repetitive, the map's not too big or empty, there aren't any dull subplots, etc.  also i'd say having it set in hong kong as opposed to another open-world game in an american city really makes it stand out.  this game is definitely worth your time.

S'okay, Toys R Us has the two for $60 deal going on so I got it and Max Payne 3. I'll get it for PC during a Steam sale. :D

Finished the storyline last night; seems like the last 4 missions were actually just strung together.

I don't know why people complain about the ending; it made more sense than most HK cinema. I thought the finish was pretty brilliant, though
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I honestly thought Jackie Ma was a traitor, right up until it was Highly Unlikely. It didn't make any sense that he would FALL OUT from the getaway car, I assumed it was intentional. It didn't make any sense that he'd want to go for a walk alone right on the heels of having been kidnapped. It just seemed like he might be setting Wei Shen up for a fall at Big Smile's hands. Turns out, Jackie's just a sap.

DONE.

Earlier today, when I logged in to XBL after playing through a mess of endgame Achievements offline, it looked like XBL overwrote them to ZERO. I was :maf so hard. Then I came back to it, and they were restored.

Good fuckin game, skipping on the DLC though. Finished all the face missions, not going to bother with the races / drug busts because they're boring. Next game pls

It's an easy 1000 to get, unless the XBL and Steam achievements are different.

DLC doesn't add much.  It's nowhere near as substantial as Infamous FoB or RDR Undead Nightmare.

I'm looking forward to the DLC, unless they add collectibles without a map component or something equally tedious and/or un-finishable.

I liked the Drug Busts overall, but there were a couple which were just grindy; "HERE ARE 20 MORE GUYS RUNNING ACROSS THE PARKING LOT, NOW THAT YOU BEAT THE FIRST 12..." Come ON. Do we really need to do this?

Game was great though.

What are the best DLCs for this game?

DL North Point right now.

North Point is ~1 to 2 hours (if you're out for the collectables).  Standalone campaign selected from the menu.  The newest one, year of the snake(?), is supposed to be similar.  Haven't played it myself.

The other two mission DLCs are the zodiac tournament and wheels of something (the car one).  I played the car one just last week; only takes about ~20 to 30 minutes.  Takes place in the the main story, has a couple missions, and you get a new super car (fast, machine guns).   Zodiac tournament takes place in the main story too, but adds a new island on the map.  It's a short kung fu tournament, again, around half an hour to complete.

North Point is fun, as is Zodiac Tournament (depending on the price...I got it for a $1).  The car one isn't, except maybe if you haven't completed the game yet and want the car.

Of course it will. Eidos are making serious waves in the (The Business) business of making pretty good games, which is something some of their J owners don't like, which is why there's obv. a battle going on atm inside Square.
Everything about the press release from Square about Tomb Raider being shit due to not selling billions of copies. And then Square guy resigned. Smacks of internecine war inside Square.
