You act like I care. I kicked Cheren's ass with a level 9 Poke'mon against his level 13.
Anyways, Poke'mon Black is my first Poke'mon since Blue and I'm really enjoying it. Its been close to 13 years or so years since I was heavy into Poke'mon, and it has evolved a bit but it's still mostly familiar - in a good way. I like that the Poke'mon Center is the same theme it was when I was a kid, with the same Poke'mon Healing chime. It has the sense of adventure, sort of, that I crave, and it has a lot of unique -isms that separate it from games like SMT. I still catch a catch em all addiction, after all, after 13 years, whereas in SMT I've never had the urge to fill my compendium. I don't know what it is, but I need those Poke'mon.
I think that the 3ds will probably see a giant reboot of the Poke'mon series, and if Nintendo makes another top down 2d version instead of a full expansive 3d version with visuals similar to Dragon Quest VIII, they are fools.
Ideally, the first Poke'mon - on 3ds - should be fully 3d. They should downscale their Poke'mon number to a few hundred rather than their full roster now, but redesign them. Every single one. Give us a Poke'mon for a new generation. You should have large fields like Final Fantasy XII/Xenoblade with paths and Poke'mon bushes/grass. When it comes to battle, encounters should be visible, making it so that you could possibly sneak up on Poke'mon to catch them easier, even without using a Poke'mon. During battle, when picking abilities, you should see both trainers and how they react to different moves, but when it comes to the actual moves, the action should zoom in on the Poke'mon. In dungeons, you should be able to solve puzzles - again, ala DQ8! - by sending specific Poke'mon to do them; think you're in a grass dungeon and need to burn a tree, so you use a Charmander to burn the fuck out of it. There should be quests, Monster Hunter-esque and Final Fantasy XII hunts quests, but instead of beating up that huge wyvern, you either catch it, or beat it to a pulp depending on the mission, and wrap it all up with a neat little Final Fantasy XII hunt-like story to give the world some cohesion and believability.
Since the 3ds now has an online system, the game should also have online co-op ala Dark Souls, and feature a glimpse of what other trainers are doing, though you can't interact with them. Just like Souls games.
The next Poke'mon needs to be something completely from left field, and a completely transformation to the third dimension. This is a prime opportunity to not be seen as hacks, though playing Black 2 shows they're far from hacks. I think doing this would make them more bucks than usual.
