Andrex, if you have any way of playing MGS3 on something other than the 3DS, please for the love of God, do it.

What is your aversion to fixed angles, Bork? For most games, it doesn't work, but for Metal Gear, which is essentially Pacman, it does. It depends on the locale though. For something like MGS1/2 where you're inside interiors the whole game, it's the best way to display all guards and allow you to scope the environment. For a game like MGS3 where you're in an open environment, as we saw from the original MGS3, it's certainly not perfect but in combination with a third person perspective - as seen in MGS3 Substance - it's money.

Yeah thinking I'll wait now. Either until I eventually get a PS3 for $50 or when it hits Steam in 10 years.

MGS3 is one of my favorite games of all time, those 3DS screens and some videos I've seen just look painful.

I don't have a problem with it, but why would you want them to go backwards like that?  They made a full-on (good) Metal Gear game on the PSP with Peace Walker that builds on elements introduced in MGS3 and MGS4.

No, it's not.   :lol

We're talking about the evolution of game play in one series here...not two sub-genres.  Show me a single fighting game series that changed from a 2D game to a 3D one.  And no, changing from sprites to polys is not going from 2D to 3D when the game play is the same.

Morrrrrrrrrtal Kombat!

Got me there!

Wonder why I forgot about that?   :P

My point is that with Peace Walker, they added new stuff to the series and made a full-on game on the PSP sacrificing nothing and coming up with a good control scheme for it.  I don't remember most people bitching and whining about the same type of moving and aiming control styles in old N64 FPS games either...didn't Turok and Turok 2 get tons of praise?

Which camera angle is more suitable for a portable system without a second stick?

Fixed camera angle

or

trying replicate console tps controls and environment on a system that doesn't have a second stick?

Kojima can suck my dick nipples.

Fixed camera angles  :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck :yuck

If they wanted to do a true overhead style game (as in NO fixed angles), that would be something else.

Why are so many people against fixed camera angles in games? I'm personally sick of playing camera man in most games nowadays. Wouldn't mind some more titles with fixed angles (more cinematic!) or even pre-rendered backgrounds.

Since you're American you have plenty of good games coming up like Etrian Odyssey 4, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, Unchained Blades, and Dragon Quest VII.

You should also get a copy of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars since you like strategy games. You do like strategy games, right? Right?!

Well... I replied to your previous post asking the same thing, but there's going to be some good stuff coming out in the next few months alone.

- Fire Emblem
- EO4
- Soul Hackers
- SMT4 (pending announcement)
- DQ7 (pending announcement)

And stuff already out:

- Devil Survivor Overclocked
- Unchained Blades
- Crimson Shroud

There's plenty of stuff to play on it. No need to put up a face. Vita lost.

So Fantasy Life is Animal Crossing with actual stuff to do. I guess its more like DQ9-ish off line rpg with all the harvesting/crafting/house arranging stuff... Oh and offline multiplayer for 2 player hack and slash. Mildly looty too

About 5 hours in , playing as a Mercenary - its simple and other than the first hour of basic handholding its let me go adventuring - it hasnt spoon feed me through all the trades/harvesting/extras and thats making it fun. Simplistic but fun.

Not if you set them to be original res. Then they're the same size as a normal DS screen.

BC on the XL is solid. I love it.

Overall the 3DS as of now is the portable to own: has a good selection of released games, great selection of upcoming games, BC isn't a total turd anymore, and the new hardware solved the most glaring issues of the fat. You'd be crazy to pass it down if you ever owned a DS and enjoyed it.

Edit: Bought Crimson Shroud. ^_^

I doubt I'll okay it before clearing KH though.

I really like DQ9 and find it to be the best RPG on the original Ds. The only major flaw is how you unlock new classes I find.

Ds.has a rich RPG catalogue. Play smt strange journey.

Probably. I'm sure people would have accepted its aesthetics ( i.e.: not great graphics, let's just say this :lol )far more if it were a 8-10 eShop title and not a full retail one.

The Gameboy Tetris is very simple and basic. It's just Tetris. No extra modes or anything. And it's still crazy addictive fun.

Umm, I love the DS game to bits (probably my most played Tetris), but you can't deny it being babby's first Tetris due to that feature. The entire game's design and challenge are simple enough that such a change dilutes it.

short of hunting down one of Arika's cabinets.

Or you can just emulate it. TGM3 works fine on PC.

There are also some TGM clones that people use, but obviously you're better off with the real thing. Plus Mihara will hate you for using a clone - you should pirate his games instead.
