Personally, I can't stand using trackpads at the incredibly slow pointer speed they tend to default to, where you have to take multiple "passes" to move the cursor any distance. I always turn the pointer speed to near the maximum (usually 1 notch below it) and then when I need to move a shorter distance or precisely target some small icon, it's still not a problem because instead of sliding my finger I "roll" the tip of my finger for finer movement, which works very well and feels nice. While I came up with this method independently I always vaguely assumed this was how everyone who knows what they're doing uses a trackpad, but I never had any real basis for this assumption so, uh, here's a poll.
