Good question.

Maybe you will need to find a Dante Mii in Miiverse first. Ask for his friendcode. Then register somewhere. Then he will send you an invite in Animal Crossing to play the demo. But it will only work with the 360 controller. So please upgrade.

This game is UE3. Probably 10fps with Ninja Theory x Capcom feels like 30fps technology on Wii U.

Played it a little bit.

Dunno,seems OK.Controls are fine and responsive(for a 30 fps game),game looks fine.
Two areas, city and a boss fight.City is more like a tutorial, quite a bit of platforming there.

I've never played DMC games(just NG and Bayonetta) so i can't compare with previous games.

Get the HD collection now, son (skip 2.)

DMC3 is in the canon of incredible action games.

Crow -> my mouth.

The DMC demo isn't bad! It's actually pretty good. From the outset, the demo gives multiple weapons and variables to do tricks, combos, and slice open enemies with. The combo system is robust, and offers a whole slew of options, controls are silky DMC-quality smooth, the framerate isn't bad, and the game introduces a sense of flow (platforming mostly that) failed to work in DMC4. Here's hoping later missions aren't as bad as some areas in DMC4 if they're going with that.

This is solid work going from the demo.

I like my crow baked, please.

the reactions are about what i expected.

the game is "good enough."  It'll probably review well and maybe sell decent.  Bye-bye classic DMC.

dunno why people are crying so much; it aint like the original games were perfect or anywhere near it. demo has limited combos and i hope the full version has lots more moves to unlock. level variety is a million times better but that was to be expected considering these dudes made enslaved and the old dmc had levels made of pure ass and boredom. and of course anyone complaining about how the games style sucks compared to the old ones needs to taste the weeaboo paddle

uh, 3 is about as close a perfect game as you can get.

I agree about the story/character design/voice acting/whatever.  People seem to love it, but all I saw was some very corny japanese shit.  I'm still puzzled why people in the demo thread on GAF are fighting over his voice acting and all that shit-- it's all psedo-rebellious bullshit that only appeals to people who have never left the house and experienced any actual culture in their lives.

It's the combat that's going to be way off.   Now I'm going to see just how off it is, gonna dl now

Dunno how dmc3 is perfect considering it is easily exploitable and only 2 (or 3 depending on who you ask) styles aren't shit.

Most players never scratched the surface of DMC3's combat. No surprise they're just as satisfied with DmC.

It's better than their previous action games at least.

those people are idiots. in any case, DMC does offer a lot of options. You have the choice between pulling enemies towards, you, pulling yourself towards enemies, launching, guns, gun charge, sword, and two (three) weapons with different movesets. And this is at the fucking beginning of the game. Game is looking well on the combat front.

Welp....

:lol

The combat is definitely mashy, even on Nephilim mode, but it's definitely not bad.   I'll have to give it a run on Son of Sparda and see what happens. The "feel of 60fps" stuff is still bullshit, it feels like 30fps to me, but it is responsive.  Overall, it has a great chance of being better than any of the God Of War games' combat engines, but the other DMCs, NG1+2, Bayonetta, God Hand, etc. are all still on another level completely.  Big points for not having QTEs-- this game looks like it would have a million of them, but there were none.  My big complaint is that the graphics seem to get in the way-- I can't tell what the fuck those enemies are doing at any given time.  But it didn't really matter because they were barely defending themselves.  There wasn't a whole lot to put the move set to the test on Nephilim mode.

The Slurm Queen fight was pretty boring since she doesn't attack a whole lot.

I'm surprised at how good everything else is-- the platforming, environments, graphics in general-- there's good reason for it to be 30fps.  All this stuff will take the cake over previous DMC games and probably a lot of other action games.  And none of it feels janky or cheap at all.  The platforming is what the Devil Bringer platforming in 4 should've been.
The environments are a lot more interesting...I actually can't wait to see what other crazy shit they threw together, graphics/environment/platforming-wise.

The story, dialogue etc. is typical teen power fantasy bullshit, as expected.

There was some tearing at the beginning of the demo and maybe some frame drops during gameplay, but I think it got overblown in the gaf thread.

Still gonna wait for the PC version though...this shit is begging to be run on a gaming rig at actual 60fps.

Edit: let me clarify, i'm eating crow because it's not completely terrible and has none of the hallmark shit stains of Ninja Theory's other games so far.

Game looks really good, then again I never doubted the art design on NT. It's their main strong point. I thought Enslaved and HS looked really attractive art wise.

Story wise. New Dante seems ok. I miss the very Japanese "cool" Dante and I hope he will be back, but rebellious teen Dante will probably be good. Hopefully they don't lay the angst on us. I don't have high hopes for the story though, since no matter how much TN tries they are pretty bad at it.

As for the gameplay. It seems competent. Something about it dosent jive to me as well as DMC 3 or 4. It's like there is a strange deliberate pause in between attacks. Thats the best way I can describe it. It seems to be there to make the game accessible and to make the window to do combos on the fly easier and more accessible. It doesn't make the game any less fun, just makes stringing moves easier, which may be a good thing.

But obviously this is NT's best game. With gameplay that actually feels like it has depth to it and platforming that actually feels like you our playing an actual game.

All in all, I guess this will be a good cinematic action game, but I hope it doesn't replace the real Devil May Cry.

And how much would I pay for this game. probably full retail price if I have the money. If I don't have the money the week it comes out sub-$40. It seems to be a solid game to me.

I never expected DmC to be on the level of Revengeance, DMC3/4, Bayonetta, NG: Black, NG2, etc. It looks like they pulled off a fairly solid God of War/Darksiders mash em up and I bet the large majority of gamers will love it.

I liked it.  I'm not gonna act like I'm some hardcore action gamer I just like playing games of this style, and this does fine. I'll wait for a PC version though because these console frame rates aren't doing it for me in general.

Revengance does still seem better though.

It's nice that they used youtube to show off the PC version.  You can really see the benefit of 60fps in the 30fps youtube video  :spin

edit: nice that it's coming out only a week after the console versions.  Better chance it'll be something during the Summer sale.
