Looking at the numbers, Trump is really going strong. If he was just going to be another flash-in-the-pan Tea Party darling like 2012 was full of, he should have already started to fall back down in the numbers, but he's actually been going up through the past week [putting him above his previous high point back in early August]. Jeb, meanwhile, is continuing to shed points, falling back into third behind a surging Ben Carson. At no point in 2011 did Romney drop below 10 points [his lowest was 16.5 as Perry reached his pinnacle of support], but Jeb has dropped to 9.5 and it's not even a sure thing that's he's bottomed out yet since the two most recent polls have him under that mark [and also show Trump inching closer to 30 points].

So...the conventional wisdom was that at some point Trump would crash and burn and then everyone would flock back to Jeb, presumably. Maybe Walker, but his numbers have been cratering even worse than Jeb [he's at 6.3 and falling]. But the longer this goes on, the harder it's going to be for Jeb to pull off a miracle comeback.

"Low energy kind of guy" has to be one of the greatest disses in recent history. It's so simple and passive aggressive. You can tell Jeb is feeling the heat from his donors.

One thing that isn't pointed out enough: PAC money isn't helping Bush. It pays for airtime/media but it cannot be directly used by campaigns. Bush is struggling with campaign money and is cutting costs/salaries. If his poll numbers continue to be pedestrian I can't help but think his campaign $ will crash and the big PAC donors will move elsewhere. Nor does Jeb strike me as the type of candidate to cut all costs, buy a campaign bus, and just gut things out like McCain in 2008. That takes a certain level of balls, and isn't the type of plan a "low energy kind of guy" would pull off.

People who support Trump like his voice and bravado, clearly they don't pay much attention to what he's saying and probably don't pay much attention to politics in general. So attacking him on what he said a decade ago when just recently he's been calling those he dislikes PMSing rapists won't do you any favors. You won't win the general election by trying to out-trump Trump but clearly Jeb is a bit riled up.

Hillary also has a seemingly energy deficient campaign style so maybe we'll see this again next year.

I'm honestly surprised by Carson's surge in the polls, because I don't really understand where his support base is coming from. I figured that Trump would have that section on lock, but his numbers are actually going up at the same time as Carson's are going up [latest poll has Trump at 30 and Carson at 18]. Carson is basically a Tea Party darling similar to those from 2012, though, so I expect him to crash in the next month or so once he starts to get some serious scrutiny/pushback. Looks like maybe his support is coming from the numbers that Jeb and Walker are shedding [latest poll has Jeb at 8 and Walker at an abysmal 3], so maybe he's being positioned as some kind of far-right anti-Trump or something.

And Kasich, Christie, Paul, Perry, Santorum, Jindal, and Pataki are done. Their numbers have tapered off to a rounding error.
