In several arguments I've had in the past few days I've learned that a lot of people think the majority of the American people have been clamoring for taxpayer funded healthcare and are willing to pay for it. These people need to get out more.
"A majority of the American people actually support my views, and if a candidate speaks boldly to those principles they will win and break through the corrupt political system that's been stifling reform."
It's crazy how many people think that, across different ideologies no less. Libruls, tea partiers, even above-the-fray moderates. I swear every four years Tom Friedman writes the same column about some movement to draft an independent candidate who will unify the country, because people are tired of bickering partisanship.
All of them are wrong, of course.
