He won the straw poll by 24 votes, Paul came like one short of sweeping the delegates at the convention.

Paul actually won the caucus too, if you think of the actual caucus process. The GOP used to do a presidential straw poll, then most everyone left, then they would pick delegates. Paul's people in 2012 were told to stay until the end in all caucuses. Romney's campaign was the only other one to advise people of this but they were more complacent. Gingrich and Santorum's shit campaigns had no clue. (Thus why they had other mishaps like not making the Virginia ballot.)

They learned it partly from Obama's team in 2008.

I predict that Trump is going to squeak out a win for the nomination with around 40% of the vote and Clinton will basically clean up after New Hampshire. I'd also bet Clinton will get a huge win in the general election because the Sanders campaign would motivate Republicans voting in the primary to choose their most radical candidate, who in their minds would be the best choice to fight the socialist barbarian.

It would be hilarious if California casts the Republican primary swing vote in June.

All I know, is that the next 9 months are going to be a thronging of shlongings for Trump.

I see some people concerned about Rubio on twitter/gaf/etc but honestly it seems to me like he has the same electoral map problems that everyone else has. Maybe not as drastic but the root problem persists. Hillary won't need Ohio or Florida to win.

In several arguments I've had in the past few days I've learned that a lot of people think the majority  of the American people have been clamoring for taxpayer funded healthcare and are willing to pay for it.  These people need to get out more.

"A majority of the American people actually support my views, and if a candidate speaks boldly to those principles they will win and break through the corrupt political system that's been stifling reform."

It's crazy how many people think that, across different ideologies no less.  Libruls, tea partiers, even above-the-fray moderates.  I swear every four years Tom Friedman writes the same column about some movement to draft an independent candidate who will unify the country, because people are tired of bickering partisanship.

All of them are wrong, of course.

It should be noted that Clinton was a New York Senator at the time of the photo-op, participating in a groundbreaking event that was funded by more than $200 million in tax breaks and grants meant to keep businesses from leaving lower Manhattan in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks. In other words, it makes sense that Clinton would be at the ceremony.
