That's actually a really good idea, as long as you can keep from getting banned for doing it.

That's literally what I was thinking of. It's happened before. Plus, as per the bonus link I posted, he is/was actively looking for a job, which coincided with the change of his writing style. :lol

Good for him, I say. But one more terrible gaming writer for me to ignore.

Welp...banned again.

What sucks is that I wasn't trolling this time. :lol I mean, yeah I guess I could see how they might interpret it that way, but I was at least serious with the part talking about the attractive gamer girls.

Though if it was for the video, meh.

I know quite a few hot gamers as well, but don't you agree there's the stereotype that gamers aren't really the most aesthetically pleasing set of people?

This entire site had its beginning as a game site and practically everyone here is a looker. So no.

As a stereotype, sure. As reality? No.

And that's what most likely got you banned, you were using a stereotype to attempt to support your argument that "gamers are all ugly people and that's the 'true gamers.'"

No, they were pretty clear what definitely got me banned was my "schtick".

But all I meant to say was that you don't see hot chicks into games very often so when one shows up, everyone's all omg.

Well, let's be fair: The problem is ANY sort of female, the hint of "attractive" (which means "not a whale/butterface" for lack of better terms) will get the "OMG YOU GAME" reaction from males. The problem is, gaming has been a hugely "boys-club" for ages. Women do it, but they aren't as "proactive" in taking the label or saying it out loud like males.

This has kinda fed into the "no gurls on the internetz" sort of mentality for the hobby. The same bullshit happens with Magic but Magic/card-games have assholes that are hostile toward it.

Jan > Marsha

We talking the originals or the 90s movies here?  Cuz if we're doing Maureen McCormick vs Eve Plumb, I could maybe see an argument, maybe, even though I disagree.  But if you're talking Christine Taylor vs Jennifer Elise Cox, you are on fucking glue.

Not talking about looks, talking about personality and character. Jan is hilarious. Marsha makes me want to die. What has she ever done of any significance besides try to fuck her step brother? Jan has mysterious voices and talks to herself. I'd have a beer with Jan.

She just needs a hug.

I mean just go to a comic book convention. Honestly, there are plenty of attractive men and women at these things. I'm not going to separate people by casual or hardcore, because it dosen't matter really. The fact is every time I go to one of these "nerd" things I see plenty of attractive people and as far as I know, they were willing to come to these nerd things so they have some interests.

I did some speed dating at the last one(I did abysmal) and there was one incredibly attractive girl who was cosplaying as Jill Valentine from RE3 and she was able to talk like an expert about the games so there you go.

Right, but again: If you're even 4/10 on the attraction scale, creeps that don't get out much will creep on you. It's the gaming way. As soon as people stop being creeps about it/being assholes because "there's nothing wrong with the way things are now" it'll improve.

But I will say women that are streaming games for massive viewers/gifts piss me off. I've seen streams on Twitch where the women are basically just sitting there barely playing the game and have massive viewers because lonely horny virgins have to sit and watch. :-\

At C2E2 which is a comic book convention in Chicago, but it's put on by Sci Fi Speed Dating who visit many conventions.
https://www.facebook.com/SciFiSpeedDating

Yes, there will be some people you find unattractive, but there's bound to be some you do.

I use to think a lot of girls like "pretty" and maybe not as one gender focused Japanese stuff like Final Fantasy. They do, but a lot of girls I talked to there really like Mass Effect. No doubt because they can actually play a female character who isn't embarrassing.

And yeah a lot of girls I found there like Doctor Who. Sure maybe it's because the dudes were attractive, but I doubt they would watch it if that was the only thing. Plus, how is that different then dudes who latch unto the female characters in Persona(not in a creepy way either)? Or who part of the appeal of Veronica Mars for them was Kristen Bell as well as the writing?

Women don't have any actual legitimate interests. If they do, it is because a guy is involved that they're attracted to.  You see, women can't live without relying on a man.

Why isn't maharg a mod anymore?

There isn't really an interesting story here. Just because I don't like speaking out of turn and getting facts wrong, here's a post from him over a year ago when he still had a red name: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=54078651&postcount=394 . If memory serves, I think he was removed from the admin group around the time that an admin account got hacked which resulted in the mandatory password resets. I'm not even sure if his was the account that was hacked, but I assume it was concluded that if people were out there trying to hack into those accounts, it wasn't necessary to have someone still having that kind of access if they weren't ever wanting/needing to utilize it.

I don't personally talk with him, but it's my understanding that there's no bad blood at all there. I don't think this was really a demotion at all for him, as you can tell from his own phrasing in the above post that he didn't really have much want/need for a red name at the forum, and he continues to post there.

Didn't someone on GAF years ago fuck a melon and posted before/after pix?

It was our own Father Mike who came up with the idea and drew the diagram.  Don't think he's the one who posted the photo of an actual melon tho.

No, they were pretty clear what definitely got me banned was my "schtick".

This is one of those areas where the moderation makes no sense.

nudemac has been a full-on schtick poster for like a year, and he basically has free reign to post anything. There are lots of other gaffers who have carried on an obvious schtick for years. Yet somehow it's a bannable offense when you do it?

I think the difference is that most people who get what mac is doing find him amusing. It brings something to the table, rather than just being straight-up attention whoring.

It makes perfect sense, mods are familiar with who mac is so they leave it alone, random bushwhackers trying it will be smacked down quick. Sorry but, when you get down to the social side, forums are a popularity contest, always has been. The public, one -> many format allows for nothing else.

You're saying you just don't get why people will argue so hard in favor of having a government body with a broad range of intrusive powers, a monopoly on the use of force, abs a willingness to use force frequently against some of the people it ostensibly derives its power from?
No, why it's conflated with society and why society must own the individuals within, and why your technological and biologic distinctiveness will be added to their own, your culture will adapt to service theirs, freedom is irrelevant, self-determination is irrelevant, you must comply. And that you automatically consent to this and cannot not consent to it. Resistance is futile.

It's a rapist claiming the victim consented because the rapist raped them.

what many see as trolls are in reality carefully constructed efficient rhetorical devices engineered to circumvent traditional cognition of textual communication through the utilization of textual communication itself. it is in this juxtaposition of normally disparate forms that the intended message is conveyed to the reader, who when presented with these rhetorical devices, are forced to decode, confront and absorb not the words themselves, but the semiotics, etymons and meta-contexts of the words.

i hope that clears everything up.

I should also acknowledge that roughly 10% of the population lacks the cognitive ability to decode sub-textual information, and will often respond dismissively or in anger, often relying on visually coded communication, as the areas of the brain dedicated to speech and linguistics are overloaded.

I think the best one you did was in the "Friend's girlfriend fucked 82 dudes" thread. Something like:

mac: She probably fucked that many dudes because women use sex to psychologically manipulate men
Some poster: Couldn't men do the same thing?
mac: No, men just enjoy sex

Even though I still think fucking 82 dudes off craigslist is lolz-status (because craigslist), that was pretty brilliant.
that's what i'm talkin about!

wymyn threads are my favorite threads on gaf.

This is true but I don't think anybody here gets obsessed about things. It's when your hobby becomes an identity that makes you neglect exercise and changing your shirt everyday that I think would really make you have to lower your standards.

This thread is an interesting collective of people trolling, not mad and just having fun out here, and legit mad. And it's never consistent. I've seen all of these sides from all of you pretty much. Either way it shouldn't be taken seriously. But Dax, and your standard PoliGAF poster are the type of people that take shit very seriously. This kinda reminds me of when I saw the NBA-GAF forum shit talking us and calling us a bunch of homophobes / racists etc. when ~50% of us are some combination of coloreds or butthole enthusiasts
