IGDA has been a laughing stock forever. Along with every other vidya interest organization, seemingly.

Have you even read their twitter exchange? :lol

EDIT: Because I don't want to drag this stupidity on. Jeff Green is acting like a hot headed idiot and trying to shut down Garnett when Garnett is actually arguing the same thing as him but from a calmer, clearer perspective. Jeff Green is like FIRE EVERYONE #@$$#@11!! and Garnett is like calm down son lets look at the whole picture and figure out why this happened and who is to blame. I like Jeff Green, but thats not how an adult discusses a point.

I guess even Jeff slips up once in a while  :manny

EDIT2: And here is Jeff Green confirming being what I said he was
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=51854580&postcount=388

Even in the first quote, Green argued that those responsible should be fired. Lee seemed to be trying to carve out some sort of more nuanced and reasonable position, but while the intent was clear the actual results of what he was trying to accomplish were completely undefined. He took issue with Green's tone but provided only vague rationales for what he was trying to accomplish, and in the end it seemed that he was completely in agreement save for an unnecessary cry for cooler heads to prevail.

The point stands that Green didn't just charge in like a boar calling for "everyone" to be fired.

Related to that thread, I'm surprised (I don't know why anymore) at the number of people who don't seem to comprehend the difference between a professional organization and the types of social events you'd expect them to organize vs. a skeevy trade show party put on by a vendor, publisher, etc.

The point stands that Garnett is getting there in a more useful and productive way, Jeff trying to shut that down is hot headed and moronic.

The point stands that Garnett is getting there in a more useful and productive way.

His later tweets were very reasonable. But if Green seemed standoffish, I don't know if "shall I get you a torch for your hunt?" is a very diplomatic start to his contribution to that conversation.

Agreed on this point. Not very diplomatic, but I agree with the sentiment (exploration is needed before a course of action is taken) In doing said exploration the situation is easier to prevent going forward (a point im sure you agree with)

Point blank firing everyone involved doesn't solve your issue, it solves your symptoms. Answering these 'Who is to blame? Why is there a party culture around this? Why was this allowed to happen again? ' and related questions is a good start to understanding and solving the actual issue.

Not demanding or anything, but I'd be much more receptive to Brenda's plight if she made another Wizardry game.  Just sayin'.

Also saw that thing on the IGDA, actually an edm show with scantily clad chicks sounds pretty awesome (but I don't know the half of it)... why the outrage? Why has the game industry been subject to so many "battle of the sexes" things lately (or is it just me)?
^_^

wait wait. are there edm shows without scantily clad women? real talk tiesto. does american edm shows not have scantily clad women everywhere or do you just mean specifically professionally hired women who are scantily clad?

We're living in horrible times. Political correctness is at a fever pitch and you can't go anywhere without hearing about "rape culture" or some social cause. Shit is getting seriously annoying and I think I may have to abandon the internet for  awhile.

Like, on the one hand I totally agree with the notion that misogyny runs rampant in videogames and it's particularly bad on the professional level.

On the other hand, VIDEOGAMES ARE FOR DUDES AND DUDES ARE STUPID FUCKING CREATURES.

Battered wives? Nas mostly always delivers at least 3 classics on every one of this albums.

Always good to be a Nas stan.

3 decent tracks on a 15 track album full of shitty beats :flabbynsick

see thats it, right there. that delusional steez. PD is a Nas stan but I know he knows when hes being illogical or just putting up a front on some :damn shit. your typical Nas stan gets fed a meager meal of an album that is 10 to 20 percent enjoyable but a terrible listen through not worth buying.

anyway i have clinic early in the morning, man i love a good hate sesh

What the fuck is this dude talking about? At least three classics an album doesn't mean the rest is garbage. :gurl Stillmatic, for example, almost every track is amazing. Same for Illmatic, and It Was Written. Life Is Good is the same way.

Life is Good is a solid album though. I literally like everything on it to varying degrees except Summer On Smash. I know people hate on tracks like You Wouldn't Understand but I love that old school 90s vibe. The album gives me an almost new jack swing feel to it.

I'm not saying it's the greatest thing ever, but it was a solid album with multiple stand-out tracks (Locomotive, Bye Baby, Stay, Cherry Wine) and the bonus tracks are damn good

I don't think Life is Good counts. Street's Soldier however, embodies that. But I still like a lot of tracks. I definitely think it's better than say Life After Death, but definitely worse than All Eyez On Me.

The only Nas albums I outright dislike are Nastradamus and I am.

Outside of Illmatic Nas is a compilation musician. Too bad his Greatest Hits features Illmatic heavily, otherwise it would be a solid second nas record.

Wrong. Stillmatic, It Was Written, Lost Tapes, Gods Son, Distant Relatives...

My problem with eschas complaints is that no other other singles rapper has had as much longevity as Nas and has more classics. Snoop? LOL. DRE? Lol. Cube? Lol. Ll? Lol. Wu-tang is less consistent than Nas. Jay? Lol. it is like all of his criticisms can be attributed to every rapper ever and yet Nas still comes away at the top except for maybe Tupac.

Illmatic: classic
It Was Written: classic
I Am: weak
Nastradamus: trash
Stillmatic: great
God's Son: ok
Street's Disciple: meh
Untitled: not bad
Life is Good: good

Not gonna lie, he has a very mixed catalog. Yet there are plenty of great rappers who don't have four good-to-classic albums. Life Is Good proved he still has it, and I think he can release a string of good albums to wipe the taste of Nastradamus/I Am out of people's mouths.

Nas' output is better than MOST rappers.

In any case I don't see why consistency is even an issue. Queens 80s stuff isn't the best but they're one of the nest bands ever. Pre-Revolver Beatles :rofl Bob Dylan has recorded a million albums, Davkd Bowie as well and they are not ALL classics. Its such a random talking to point to me because I can't think of many long term musicians who are always consistent.

I wish Nas would just let someone pick his beats. Life Is Good works in part due to No ID executive producing it and keeping Nas on track with some nice production; still, Nas picked some pretty damn questionable beats (Reach Out comes to mind). EVERY producer wants to work with him, it's odd that he sticks to the same couple dudes, and when he does branch out it can be a horrible misfire (Summer On Smash...).

Say what you will about Jay, nearly all his albums have stellar production. I don't see why Nas can't call up Alchemist, Madlib, Harry Fraud, T-Minus, El-p...I don't care, just get some dope producers. I'm glad he's getting stuff from the Justice League (No Introduction).
