Without feeling compelled to weigh in personally with an opinion towards the topic or anyone involved, I must say that I'm always of two minds when stuff like that happens on GAF. On the one hand, I do think it's nice to see that a community can rally around such a cause and see to it that a member is all right, as though everyone is one big, happy family wherein everyone's well being is important. But on the other, I find it disconcerting that it's that real, because that's not at all what I'm looking for. I go to places like GAF to read about what games are fun and to speculate on such unimportant horse shit as where console manufacturers will stack up after E3 reveals. And to that end, I've never posted my picture or real name there. When you see people rallying around trying to contact somebody's family to make sure that a member hasn't killed themselves, it's kind of surreal. I'm not saying that people shouldn't care that much, as that would be stupid and insensitive. But I will say that it's not what I signed up for.
