holy christball that map thread is embarrassment. Yeah I guess I should feel honored that company can't throw me a few bucks when producing and selling a multimillion dollar game.

Half that thread need to lock themselves in a oil drum and get pushed down a hill.

Er-He isn't wrong.

SCE != SOE. SOE could publish DC Universe on 360/720/Wii/Wii U/DS/whatever as well as their PS3/PS4/PC ports if they so wanted. They just choose not to.

SOE is part of SCEA. Look it up.

They've been part of SCE since 2008.

why the fuck do people care that much

Apparently he's not allowed to vent about his frustrations that a game stole his design on his own blog. He should be simply flattered, plus it's a map, those are all public domain despite who made it. Guess we can all just rip off google then, but they wouldn't understand the ramifications of their own arguments.

He should both be flattered that they gave his map exposure to millions, and shutup because it's just a map they all look the same, it was probably just the first thing to come up on GIS.

I just read the Ellen one too hahaha. She didn't even insult ND and the fans went ballistic.

Amazon sales chart threads need to be banned, for real. They don't provide discussion outside of petty console war "NO U"s.

It's funny how ManaByte is despised by pretty much every forum I have seen him post on. He's never been an overtly malicious fella towards other posters. There's just something about him...

The Naughty Dog fanboy contingent on GAF is fucking crazy.  Crazy.  The Uncharted 3 review thread was the most cringeworthy thing I've seen on the gaming side.

Meanwhile, I'm apparently afraid to go into the ladies room and I never even knew it.  http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=66244206&postcount=21

I always think of responding to Manabyte as a game the internet is collectively playing.  The winner of the game is the one who pierces the dense, granite shell of Manabyte's psyche and induces a single self-reflective thought.  Everyone else who responds to Manabyte and doesn't achieve this result loses.  So far everyone who plays the Manabyte game loses.

So true it hurts. I dare anyone to unearth a single post by Manabyte, from anywhere, where goes something like "gee guys, when you put it that way I guess you're right." Which is why I maintain he's a bot with a flawed logic, a flowchart with no decision diamonds or fail conditions if you will.

I always feel a slight apprehension when talking shit about Manabyte. He obviously has Real Life aspergers, and seems to be completely unaware of it. I feel so awful when I remember his truck story because I cackle hysterically. His continual love for a company that fired him at an awful time in his life (a firing which, ironically, was due to the source of that awfulness) is baffling.

I remembered when he caught a ban on GAF for being a complete weirdo in a Disney thread (I think it was Ducktales). He didn't even say anything offensive to another poster, he was just being a weird guy.

I can relate to what you're saying. He's seemingly incapable of partaking in a normal discussion. He'd dump some trivia or news in a thread and almost will never follow through with any discussion that might arise. The year I joined he was literally creating a few threads every day without posting a single thing beyond the OP, like he's trying to overcome an addiction or a tick. I really thought he was a bot.

Naughty Dog? For Press A to Awesome? Really?

Really?

From the Uncharted series? Really? It doesn't even have qte.

Traversing in an Uncharted game is like a bad Sonic game: just hold right.

why do you assume i'm talking about QTE's, and not the all-conquering out sourcing of player dexterity to an all purpose canned animation activation button?

Seems weird to use ND as an example when you have Assassin's fucking Creed on shelves.

I don't even know what you're talking about. Jump button? Shoot button? Grenade button?

assassin's creed is equally offensive, but at least they have the open world excuse and cram it with pretty architecture.

I never noticed anything about Uncharted taking away player agency. Seems like a pretty bollocks claim, especially as we get into multiplayer.

Plus, Uncharted is mostly an action adventure game. Why would anyone expect tight platforming in a game like that? The platforming is fine.
IYKYK

sure, it's an action adventure with:

no exploration
clumsy gunplay, padding the game out by grinding through brain dead adversaries
little mechanical agency
cornball writing

not that all of that isn't the norm now, i'm just not exactly sure what uncharted 2 was supposed to have done particularly well. it's a solid 7/10 diversion, but i'd rather just watch a film.

I feel the same way about the Uncharted games. They're totally worth playing, but the platforming sections and puzzles are dumbed down to the point of being almost automatic.

Himu

I'd like you to pick any recent action adventure titles that AREN'T like that.

Most of the complaints are just weird to me, especially after beating the game on crushing, where you'll die in two to three hits. The game really shines on that mode and makes practically all of those complaints seem distinguished mentally-challenged. Did you play Uncharted 2 on hard, at least? Never play ND HD games on normal mode the first run.

don't do the whole GAF video game victim blaming thing. uncharted 2 isn't some RTS with years of developed meta or a mechanically brutal dark souls a-like with a skill curve worth investing in, it's a prescribed experience. a TV dinner. i followed the instructions on the packet and it was mostly underwhelming.

Sure, many other games in the genre suffer from the same issues and games like e.g. Assassin's Creed are a total snore. Raising the difficulty in Uncharted doesn't affect the platforming and puzzles, IIRC.

Fine. I still don't get how you think Uncharted games are the face of press A to awesome when there are far worse offenders than Uncharted.

uncharted 2 had a wonderful presentation. I don't think players really cared that it was rudimentary in every way because it had a brisk pace, simple story and lots of action bits.

If the presentation didn't resonate the game really has nothing to fall back on, so in that regard it's very dedicated to a very specific design. Which I guess is laudable.

fluidity doesn't make up for the combat encounters being simple, the puzzles brain-dead and the platforming devoid of challenge, all of which essentially amount to busywork in service of the overall product (presentation/story/narrative). which is what I meant by saying it had nothing to fall back on.
