I'll agree with this.  Trying to break into those communities is damn near impossible.  Unless you're one of the 6-10 people you're not getting any kind of response.  It's too damn clique-ish.

It's probably a wise move for off topic, because most of those threads were, by definition, cliques. But on the gaming side, and aside from OT of huge games, it's been bad. It effectively kills the activity and makes me turn to worse avenues for prompt responses to my questions and discussions about the games.

Nah, it's bad for the OT ones too.  Especially like the fitness thread.  It used to be a nice mixture of the hardcore clique guys who post pictures of their food and their workout for the day, etc and the guys that pop in and out to offer advice.  The clique guys never really responded much anyways, but you could at least get answers from the other guys.  Since it's been moved it's ONLY the clique guys and now you get zero responses unless you're in with them.  It also leaves very little room for discussion because those guys all repeat the same techniques/science so it stifles the conversation completely.  It's a big ass circle jerk.
