You'd think, but apparently not.

Doesn't wanting to fuck oneself make you one? 'Cause that guy wants nothing more than splitting himself up like a coconut.

didn't he expend a fuck-ton of effort defending fedoras at some point?

Oh yes

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=54615120&postcount=105  :pimp

Instant reaction: Not a bad look :)

And I spend absolutely 0 time on the subject of "fedoras" (I think that's the first time I've ever typed the word out). Some people look good in them and some don't. I don't know why people spend so much time talking about it.

Such a boring topic. lol

I don't think that will ever happen. Then again maybe it has.

It's terrible.  Like the one dude that suggests that your response to your SO flipping out is going to define your marriage so "tread lightly" is sad.   Your SO doesn't get to act like a fucking child and expect you to walk on eggshells because of it.  And for the record my wife has told me to "grow the fuck up" before, point blank.

And that AShep dude is truly, totally pathetic.  Someone invite him here so I can laugh at him.

Another nugget of wisdom from my favorite movie.

Quote
Cameron's never been in love. At least no one's ever been in love with him. He's gonna marry the first girl he lays. And she's gonna treat him like shit because he's gonna kiss her ass for giving him what he's built-up in his mind as the end-all, be-all of human existence. She won't respect him because you can't respect someone who kisses your ass. It just doesn't work that way.

Really sucks if you had a super long term relationship before. Thank god my dude doesn't give a shit about me talking about my ex. I wouldn't be able to say shit about vacations, places I went to eat, stuff I went to see, lol. In fact these people must have the most neutered conversations ever.

Kubrick is one of the few directors who has a classic in almost every genre. I get not liking some of his movies but to deny their masterpiece status is beyond distinguished mentally-challenged. If you can't see that you can't call yourself a film buff. Reminds of Costanza acting like an authority on movies when he can't even watch movies before the year '85

Classic thread that was.

I did this on a date recently. Started talking about my Europe trip four years ago, caught myself, and told her that I'd gone to Europe with "a friend."

Sad you even have to do that because some people are just so insecure and you don't want to sour the mood. I like how placating someone like that becomes normal. It's just  :-\

Also this shit is just old ass pics. Not like people are trying to holler at your SO now. You know actual in the present problems?

Tbh, 2001 is a mixed bag. There's about 45 minutes or so in the middle of the film that's some of the best ever, and then there's the rest.

The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, FMJ, and Dr. Strangelove are all much better, IMO.

The entire movie is amazing.  :what

Also, why do people ignore Barry Lyndon?

Monkeys clubbing each other with femur bones is not amazing. A 30 minute acid trip is not amazing. I don't even give a fuck if there's symbolism in those parts of the film, because I can watch other films that work on a symbolic and on a narrative level.

The story is about evolution.

You start with chimps learning to use tools. Each time the black monolith appears, it helps speed the evolution process for humanity. Maybe it's alien in origin. Maybe it's God? Who knows. Then they skip to modern day and find a monolith on Mars. This helps spark a journey for humanity to get to the next step of evolution. Why? Because we have to eat crappy space food in outer space, and can't even get rid of waste normally (as seen in the toilet scene). Humanity has to rely on machines in order to explore space; space is a battle. David triumphs over HAL, a machine, showing humanities resilience for survival and to not be outclassed. He drifts in space, and dies. Upon his death, the black monolith appears, he touches it, and is revived, flying away into outer space hovering above Earth - the next step in human evolution.

I got all of this from my first viewing. Everything in the movie lends to this, to the chimps banging the bones, to the way they walk methodically in space as if walking like babies to the battle with HAL.

Really disappointed in you Glen. Thought you were smarter than that.

It's like people who idolize Heath Ledger's Joker when the whole point was that he was some evil psychotic who played with people's minds. Their emo tendencies trend on idiotic. I love villains in fictional stories too, but if people like Freddy Krueger existed I'd hate them. Reminds me of shit like horror movie remakes where they try to make crazy killers sympathetic e.g. Rob Zombie's Halloween. You don't have to justify liking villains and killers in movies, you fucking dumbshits.

I like a story where the "villains" aren't really villains so much as they are people with their own ideals and philosophies, so you can understand their pov, but yeah.

I didn't just discover it, but it's really accentuating my thoughts these days.

Another Barry Lyndon lover? Nice.

These days I feel A Clockwork Orange is Kubrick's most overrated film. Not to say it isn't a fantastic movie, but I hate the fanbase of it, especially the teenager boys who idolize Alex and think the film is all about violence and debauchery. It is as if they have never seen the second half of the film and stop watching it as soon as he's gone to prison.

Then you try to get the to watch another Kubrick movie and they're not interested.

Fucking adl;fad;f;fja

Barry Lyndon has among his best cinematography, sciptwriting, acting, and direction. The story is killer, and is an amazing film.

It knocks the shit out of The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, Paths of Glory, and to me Dr. Strangelove, Lolita, and the rest of his films aside from 2001.
