I can't remember the last time I discovered a new band I liked. And pretty much every time that does happen it's really a band that's been around for quite a while but since I'm so out of the loop I only hear about them shamefully late. I have no idea where to find new music but I guess I'm not really that interested anymore. I can get super lazy with music, it's so damn difficult to decide what to listen to so I just turn on the tv and have that as background noise. It's pathetic

I think of the beatles as the template for all rock bands. THey're not the greatest, but I find their influence to be well deserved. First album to ever have sampling, first double album, and more. A lot of firsts. Of course, the best rock band is Queen, so...

I think Queen is the best band because:

1. the vocals
2. the songs, they cover Noah and the flood to a poor boy about to be sent to death row to girls with big butts.
3. every single member was good at what they did and every single member contributed heavily. A lot of the most popular Queen songs (Another One Bites the Dust for example) were done my John Deacon, and while he wasn't much of a singer, he was a killer at song writing and bass. Brian May is top 10 best guitarists in rock. Roger Taylor is a top 10 drummer, and wrote (AND SANG) multiple songs himself. Don't have to say shit about Freddie. They are such an even band in this regard. Other bands, usually they tend to have like one or two song writers their entire tenure and it feels less of a group effort.

Exodust, my favorite Queen song, Prophet's Song, was written and composed by May. iirc he even builds his own guitar specifically for the song. You can hear it at the beginning and end of the song. It has a beautiful distinctive sound.

People who hate on The Beatles tend to strike me as disingenuous considering so many seem more focused on reacting to the success and hype of the band instead of actually critiquing the music. Is anyone going to deny the impact Sgt. Pepper had on music? Do Beatles haters deny that Paul & John were good songwriters? I get it, you disagree they aren't the greatest band (I don't think that either). But to leap to "The Beatles suck" literally makes no sense.

Same with Pink Floyd. Do people honestly dislike Wish You Were Here or is Floyd hate a response to them dominating classic rock radio and being such a staple of 60s-70s rock?

Also how someone can like Jimi Hendrix and dislike Pink Floyd baffles me.

The last decade made me realise that. I can't connect to modern rock music at all. Zero link, zero enjoyement. It reminded me of when I was a teenager in the early '90 and my older cousins would give me shit about Pearl Jam and Nirvana while they were so deep into Anthrax and other heavy rock bands of the '80. Now I feel the same way about bands of my 'teenage era' and modern rock bands.  :'(

Also, drug gaf is incredibly easy to piss off with the most canned typical 'anti drugs' posts.

I don't think so. The Beatles has been introduced to new generations with the new remasters and The Beatles Rock Band. I don't see it any different than my situation. I didn't listen to or grow up with The Beatles in any shape or form, but got the remasters from 2010 and have loved them since. The same is true for many members here even discussing this very topic like Phoenix Dark. Me, him, and Brand New and others discovered the Beatles with the remasters. We all listened to every album and discussed them heavily. None of us grew up with the band or really had prior experience with them.

I didn't listen to any Beatles on my own until I was like 20. The hype for the remasters got me interested, and I got really into them and probably burned myself out. Looking back, I would agree if people dismiss their music as mostly just good pop songs. But good pop songs are right up my alley so I loved it.

Heh I know a chick who works in something related to plumbing and has taught all her female friends to not flush their tampons but she had a bit of trouble with her way too once, it's pretty embarrassing, I can't believe she ever told anyone lol. So she was taking care of a friend's dog for a week and she was on her period at the time and she had a waste basket in her bathroom with her used tampons and pads. One day when she left for work she forgot to close the bathroom door and when she got home there were bloody tampons and pads everywhere. The dog had went after the smell and played with them and he was lying on the floor not moving so she had to take him to the vet. The dog had eaten a tampon or two and had to have emergency surgery to save his life

I don't know about the remasters but I don't think Beatles Rock Band did much, looking at sales.  I really doubt the 12-14 year olds of today got pulled in en masse for any of that, though.  Like I said, Beatles for them is Glenn Miller for us.  How much Glenn Miller do you listen to?  How do you rank him?  He was hugely popular and influential, so why don't you jam out to Little Brown Jug?

I don't know about the widescreen stuff but it really doesn't make sense he's playing it on PC but decided to use a PS2 controller, why would anyone want to play GTA: SA with a controller rather than kb/mouse? It wasn't until GTA4 that they gave you a decent auto-targeting system that worked smoothly and didn't glitch or hop around every second. I can still remember how if you wanted to manually aim, you had to press a right trigger, a face button, and manipulate the right stick. I was actually pretty disappointed that the PS2 version removed using the D-Pad for driving since the PC versions of GTA made me so used to arrow keys.

I'm a Plumber's assistant I guess. I do some of the stuff and what we do is commercial and residential plumbing. But I'm not an apprentice or anything.
