I never really complained metal is too technical. But I think a lot of metal sacrifices melody for guitar play. It isn't the fact it is technical, as a lot of rock can be technical, it is that there's a clear difference in priorities in the music making process. This is why I say I don't hate metal. There's For Whom the Bell Tolls and then there's what fistful posted. Guess which one I like more?
